These are the two guys brought in to replace Gonzo and Cooper after last season. Obviously they're just position coaches, but which one will prove to be the better hire and affect the team more?

I'm guess Henry just because he's had NFL coaching experience. I honestly don't know much about Raymond though other than he was at Nebraska for a year.

Raymond was doing a ton of work as a GA for LSU before he left. He will be impressive.

DB's will be more prepared fundamentally. He emphasizes footwork focus. Good teacher.

Henry is an upgrade over Gonzalez...as far as Raymond, could be a good coach but nobody is as good as Cooper.

Raymond is a downgrade only because Cooper was the best in the business. Raymond is an upgrade on the recruiting trail though.

Anyone would have been a downgrade from Coop.

I'd take Henry over Gonzo all day. Henry is a better teacher than Gonzo and may even be a better recruiter when its all said and done. I like Raymond alot,he is very fundamental like a poster said but can he develop a guy like Coop could? Idk,but he did do a good job while he was at NU. I think we will see more improvement from Henry than Raymond because our DB's are still gonna be good, while are WR's are still learning. But I like both new coaches.

raymond has chavis to help him so the dropoff from cooper will be minimal. remember chavis had berry at tenn. who was drafted as high as PP7.

Henry is the real deal and will have the most impact because both gonzales and McCarthy were terrible teachers. thus, the combination of henry and raymond will be a BIG improvement over gonzales and cooper when you consider coaching and recruiting.

Don't underestimate Raymond. Great recruiter! Player's coach from da' Berry.

I like both hires. Since we didn't have the option to retain Cooper, other than perhaps make him the DC, I like the Corey Raymond hire. I thought he was a smart player with coaching potential, has coached at a high level and been successful. Maybe it's optimistic homerism, but I think he will be a very pleasant surprise to those who thought highly of Ron Cooper (and I thought highly of Cooper, as well).

Adam Henry will prove to be a critical hire. Overlooked in the black hole that was the QB position at LSU the past 3 seasons is the underperformance of the WRs - at least one of JLee's pick sixes was an extremely poorly handled pass that hit a receiver in both hands. The route running was inconsistent, Randle never reached his potential. While OBJ was a bright spot, I'm not sure how much of his ability he brought himself. Gonzo had a good resume, and I like the guy, but I did not see consistent results (to be fair to Gonzo and the WR corps, the QB play was bad enough to throw out the subjective analysis as skewed).

Henry is an intriguing choice - he coached for an exceptional FCS team and a terrible, terrible NFL team. LSU is his first FBS job. It's a little early to suggest he's a better hire or a better coach, at least at the FBS level, than Raymond.

He will have the opportunity to prove it as there is much more room for improvement in our WR corps than in the secondary.

I have a feeling we did not hurt ourselves with either hire.

Gonzo was the most overrated recruiter ever.

Raymond may not be better than Coop, but it is not that much of a downgrade.

Gonzo may have been the most overrated hire ever. I thought our WRs were actually worse at blocking despite all his yelling during Big Cat drills.

Henry is an obvious upgrade. Jury is still out on Raymond on the coaching side, but he is a better recruiter than Cooper. If there is a dropoff, it will be minimal. I think Coop's biggest plus was his ability to find the diamond in the rough guys at camp.

I agree that cooper was GREAT at camp evaluations but that won't be a big factor this year with the type db talent we are recruiting. Same holds true for next year, when Texas is absolutely stacked with dbs and we are in on or LEAD for a couple.

It's true, but he's still pretty good. Pelini was not happy to see him go.

I was told when Henry got to LSU, he asked the receivers what the hell had they been taught, because they were running routes incorrectly.
