My take on Drew Brees Deal

Not that drew or anyone else cares, just had to get this out!
First off I don't really care what drew thinks is fair, even 16 million is a ridiculous amount of money, so if we are offering him to be the highest paid QB and he wants more than he can go to hell. How much is enough plus all of the money he gets in endorsments. It's laughable when people say we are low balling him with even as LOW as 16 million. Thats 16 million to play a game. He has NO leverage in this so he's going to take the best deal or sit out because we can franchise his arse this year,next year,and the year after that. For everyone who says pay him whatever he wants is a complete idiot. There's something called a salary cap and you can't pay someone 1/3 of the cap space you have. Yes we can't win without Brees but we can't win with just him and no talent around him. I love drew brees and what he has done for us but I was a saints fan before drew brees and I will be one after he's done. He has done alot for us but we have done just as much for him, no one remembers when we gave an injured average(before he came here yes he was average) QB who every other team in the league wouldn't pass on a physical 10 million a year and then teamed him up with Sean Payton who made him elite in the offense that was built here. So don't give me this bullshite that we owe him, he owes us just as much. I love Drew and am praying we get him signed ASAP but Don't talk about team and us and for the team and turn around and let your greed get in the way. don't tell me your a leader and while all of this shite is going down with our team you stand back and dont stand up and say anything besides a tweet while your trying to pull another million away from the rest of the team. I know they are athletes and play for the money but I guess I just thought Drew was different but he looks like he is just like the rest of the players in the league, IT'S ALL ABOUT ME!

its laughable when people have this opinion. He deserves his market value, whatever it is. It is without a doubt over 16 million.

You don't know what he as been offered either and I was just using 16 mill as an example..,I know they are reports that we offered him 20 but no proof from drew or the team

And he doesn't deserve his market value when we hold all of the leverage. You don't pay someone there market value when they can't go anywhere for 3 years(franchise tag). It's a bussiness and he is not a FA, his market value does not mean shite.

Yes he will sit out. 16 mil versus his market value of around 21 mil will prompt that. And the fact that he wouldn't have a guaranteed long term deal. Why would he settle for a 1 year deal with no protection for his future at 16 mil, when he can get 20.5 to 21 mil a year for the first 3 years of a 5 year deal? The 16.5 mil tag number is well below his value anyway. Why play for less? Just to make some worried moronic Saints fans feel better about themselves?

Sorry just don't see him sitting out a year, makes I'm that much older and I think your underestimating what a year off would do to any QB.
If he is truly all about the money which even after all this I don't think he is then maybe I can see him thinking about it

What would be the point of all this if Drew just signs the tag and plays this year? He doesn't get what he deserves and Saints fans feel better cause we have him for another year, but will go through the same thing next off season. I understand the goodwill Drew has with this city, and deservedly so. But If you don't think he will sit out until he gets his fair deal, I got some plots of land on the moon to sell you.

Drew will never see the open market. The Saints have tagged him this year, and can do the same for the next 2 to 3 seasons if I am not mistaken. If he wants to sit out for that long, so be it. IF he does that then his market value will go down because he wouldn't have played a snap in at least 2 years and would be at an age where teams wouldn't pay him the kind of money he wants at that age and not playing for several years. Plus the Saints would have to pay Drew something like close to 30 million dollars for his franchise tender in the 3rd year of using the tag. Deal will get done right before camp.
