My son and I did the barpit thing again today. The Mississippi River is starting to come in the pit I been fishing, but it didn't screw with the bass. We fished to 8:30 am and we kept 12 very nice bass and one slab sacalait. All cought on lunker lures. It didn't matter what color one used. The biggest bass of the day was 5lbs 15ozs. Very fat arse fish. A couple of the bass we had were spotted bass. I never cought them over 2+lbs, but I been hitting some closer to 3 lbs every trip. I been using my duck boat that I had mounted a trolling motor on. Its a 15' Louisiana traveler. The dam speed switch went out today and the motor only worked on high speed.

I will not be able to hit it tomorrow. All day doctor appointments from New Orleans back to Baton Rouge.

You just find them on the other side of the levee? Or you know the owner of the property?

This! The company I work for owns the area I been hitting. I do have more spots I can fish. All of these spots are less then 5 miles from my house. Very easy trips.

I did have to clean 4 of the fish we cought today, but the big moma along with all the other biggest fish stayed alive and is now swimming in my pond.

Yea i dont recommend just jumping over the levee and fishing any pit you find. Somebody owns every one of em. Dont wanna be a tresspasser unless you want 79 to burn your house down

Have a #9 cline and 4 wheel drive, I can go anywere.

For real, I wouldn't jump across unless I didn't see any posted signs even thought people don't have to put them up anymore in Louisiana.

To find a good pit, ride the level only on weekends. The levelboard cops ride the level on week days and you can get one hell of a ticket.

Once you find one, try to find out how the landowner is and just go ask. A little homework, the the payoff can be great.

All of them if the water is up against the levee, but you will not catch shite.

Hell, if you want to make a trip next week, let me know. You are just across the river from me. In fact, were the bridge crosses the river on my side, I'm fishing about 3 miles from there.

I'm a land owner and if someone came to me first to hunt or fish, there is a good chance I would let them after I talked to them. It all depends on how someone comes across.

You probably won't catch anything in the ones you can get in when the water is at normal height. It seems like they always do better once they are isolated from the river from what I am told. I'm no pit fishermen though.

We'll def have to do that Looks like it will crest towards the end of the weekend and be a slow fall. Might turn on that lake to the north (unmentionable due to potlickers)

Copy that. Now self destruct that message

Need to get with you on the back channels. I've struck out twice the last two times I went. Curious about some good summer time spots

I'm still trying to find out about the one I fish. The couple people I talked to said it is on "public" land. And I know lots of people bank fish it, but I still have a slight feel of a trespasser when I hit it.
