Anyone else remember Keith Osik night back in the day with Skip?

Keith played every position during the game, a new one every inning, pitching in the 9th.
If I remember correctly, we lost in extra innings.

Osik played 10 seasons in the big leagues, seven of which came with the Pittsburgh Pirates. His best season came in 2000 when he batted .293 as the backup catcher to Jason Kendall.
Osik ('87) led Shoreham-Wading River to a state championship in his senior season and also won the Yastrzemski Award for the top player in Suffolk County. His final season in the big leagues came with the Washington Nationals in 2005. In college he played at Louisiana State University, where he made a name for himself as one of the most versatile players in the game. He was known to play every position and even did so in one game at LSU in what was known as "Keith Osik Night." He even pitched, although LSU ended up losing the game.

I remember listening to Hawthorne for that game. Mid-weeker, if I remember correctly. Don't recall losing, but maybe so.

I vaguely remember Theriot coming in to pitch in a Sunday SEC game when we were being the ever living dog shite out of Ole Miss.

Never forget ole Keith. Good guy, great tiger.
Hooked up with him several times when he was in the bigs and he was nice enough to give me bats, gloves, balls.

Keep in mind, Bertman was still trying to generate interest in the program back then and there used to be a lot of promotions for the midweek games to get attendance. Games weren't televised back then either. They had a turn back the clock game in 1992 I think with Tulane and they used wood bats and rolled back concession prices.

i was at that game. that was back during the days of the mcdonald's lighted sign in the outfield. got a couple of burgers out of that deal. seems like i recall even armando rios hit a hr with the light on.
anyway, osik was incredible and did pitch pretty well in the 9th.
btw, other schools have done this too. i think fsu has done it with a handful of players.

Got to know him pretty well when he was playing AA ball for the Caroina Mudcats. He was a great guy and loved his time at LSU.

Osik was a great Tiger. I think he took the loss in the game he played all positions. He threw the ball over the left field wall from the first base line without warming up on numerous occasions during Skip's summer camps.
I heard an Osik story about a press conference before the 1989 CWS. Osik was asked if he was worried about the Tigers commiting more errors than any other team there. Osik said it would be an advantage in Omaha because if the Tigers made an error they were more used to dealing with it.
