The league might make some evidence available publicly — with sources carefully masked — after the player appeals are complete. That would surely be an effort to prove to the public and other players that the investigation was thorough. But people briefed on the investigation say the league has decided to keep much of the raw evidence — including notes from interviews with sources — out of public view because of concerns that revealing critical documents and notes from interviews could make it easy for players to identify some of the sources who cooperated with the league when it reopened its investigation late last season.

Sounds like the only real evidence they have is some interviews.

Bahaha so interviews are evidence now?

I wish they would bring out what they have. You either have the proof or you don't, show your hand already

They "reviewed" 50k pages. So all 50k could have been irrelevant. Nice word choice by them.

I guess all those "emails" between Saints employees aren't exactly, you know, real.

I guess one email between an imprisoned Ornstein and Payton detailing a inside joke classifies as several emails of evidence.

I also LOVE this phrase: the existence of bounties.

Jerry Rice and Cris Carter were talking about this case a week or so ago, and host was talking about the evidence and the players disputing that they never went after players to injure them. That was too much of a mind frick for those two, so Jerry says "Well, we know the bounties existed" and everyone nods their head. People really shouldn't use words they don't know the meaning to.

1) Obtain several emails
2) Copy and paste into a word document
3) Change the font to 72, double spaced
4) 50k pages worth of evidence

With the Nazi Goodel acting as a Hitler clone. The truth will never be revealed.

I'd be concerned if I was one of the league's "protected informants."

They didn't really "protect" Anthony Hargrove. Hope whatever team Ant's on does everything by the book or he'll rat.

Just measured a piece of paper in my office. It's 0.004" thick.

0.004" x 50k = 200"

200" = 16.66 feet.

Obama's stimulus plans weren't this big.

well, they may have reviewed all of our players and coaches contracts over the time period in question to make sure these were in-fact non-contractual benefits.

At about 20-40 pages per contract, that shite adds up quick

This whole "protect the informants" BS is a smokescreen by the NFL and Goodell to cover-up their lack of evidence.

Protect from who, and from what? These aren't some peon workers blowing the whistle on some large rogue company or industry a la Karen Silkwood where their lives are in danger. Every day people testify publicly as witnessness in court against people who are infinitely more unsavory and dangerous than Sean Payton, GW, Loomis, and Vitt combined. And the concern for loss of job is bogus too-the league didn't release the Hargrove statement (Yahoo did) and he's not even with the team.

The disdain and contempt with which the league is treating the public, especially Saints fans, with all its lies is pathetic.

Loomis said, in response to the 50K of pages reviewed: "the league subpoened everything we had in our computers and out of those 50K pages, only a small percentage related to any of this." And note that witnesses were interviewed, but none of the accused players were ever even talked to, let alone interviewed in any legal sense.

Which makes the league's entire "investigation" a big, steaming....

Probably to protect the league from having the informants say "you're misrepresenting what I said just like you did with GW and Hargrove".

Good point. Now it all makes sense.

If the so-called evidence is real and incriminates Saints players - i'm good with that - at least we would know the truth and know their penalties are deserved. Until then I have no other choice but to call BS on the NFL. I just want the truth one way or the other.
