Wage garnishments

Can the State take your whole check when they garnish or only a portion of it for back taxs

Louisiana is 25% max. I am fairly certain that the IRS and State Department of Revenue are treated like any other creditor. If it is a domestic support obligation, I think they can take a lot more.

Thanks,, it is a tax lein, and my employer was going to send them my whole check.

Although I am not your attorney and this is not legal advice, I'm pretty sure they cannot send the whole check.
