Here's to Charles Alexander and the 2012 College Football Hall of Fame

LINK

Check out the 4 minute mark

My co-worker is his cousin, even though they say brother and sister. This morning he sent her a picture of a football with his name and the 2012 College Football Hall of Fame etched into it.

I'm seeing what I can do to get a picture of the ball from my co-worker to try and post it up here.

Ceremony will be December 4, 2012

The man was a beast way way before anyone thought of calling a player that word

He WAS LSU in 77 and 78

Alexander the Great

OP, I'm guessing that he made the cut right?

I haven't found anything online to verify (I know how we like links) but like I mentioned I work with his sister and she showed me a pic of the football he received with his name, LSU and the 2012 College Football Hall of Fame on it with a date of December 4, 2012

If I still drank, I would raise a glass to a truly great Tiger. But since I don't, someone else can take my shot...

ESPN is confirming, at least in a blog entry.

Pretty unimpressed by the rant on this one. We have a Tiger going to the HOF and nobody seems interested

He was the only serious contender LSU has had for the Heisman since Stovall (at least until the Dorsey and Mathieu defensive campaigns), the last significant bright spot, from an individual player standpoint, of the McClendon era (the 1979 USC game was a team effort), a great football player and Ambassador for LSU.

Agree...Charles the Great IMO was the best overall running back ever at LSU. One could argue Billy Cannon, Dalton Hilliard or Kevin Faulk, but #4 had all 5 dimensions of great RBs in spades...sprinter speed, moves to make ya miss, power, and soft hands out of the backfield. Only blocking could be questioned, but in that era, we lined up in the I and tossed to Charles. He rarely was asked to block.

I had the privilege of attending LSU from 77-81 and was at every one of his breakout JR and SR year games. Still a great ambassador of LSU too!

Yep, one of my first favorites as well (liked Carlos Carson, too).

Charles the Great

Probably the first "Great" tailback in SEC history. Some will laugh at that statement. But go back and look at history he was probably the first player that took games over and dominated from the tailback position.

He has a cajun seasoning that I'm pretty sure they sell in the bookstore or the sports shop.
