It sounded as if he was giving Mett some credit in the middle if the article, and then not so much.

The Tigers will likely enter the season ranked in the top-five – maybe the top three – but the questions will continue
Da frick is this? More like we will be a unanimous number 1 or 2.

But the hype died down last year when he failed to beat out Jordon Jefferson or Jarrett Lee, neither of whom could throw the ball down the field like Mettenberger. Even when Jefferson struggled against Georgia in the SEC Championship and couldn't do much of anything against Alabama in the BCS Championship, Mettenberger never stepped off the sideline.
IMO that paragraph is more about Les Miles than Mettenberger.

LSU fans know that Mett never stood a chance last year.
Miles was hell-bent on Jefferson starting, no matter what the cost.

You could ruin a QB but putting him out there before he is ready. Not to say that Mett wasn't ready by the end of the season. He has the physical tools, but to throw him out there versus UGA or Bama wouldn't have been fair to him. Both teams defenses were in the top 10. What if he throws a few interceptions to cost us the game after we had won 12 straight. Don't you think that would way heavily on him?

I've never bought into that reasoning. I remember when I was twenty years old and personal failure stuck with me for about twenty seconds before I was ready to prove myself again.
Thing is, I don't know if Mett was ready or not. However, I'm relatively certain he was the most talented QB on the 2011 roster.

Ths dick of a guy seems like one that Mettenberg slighted in some way, dunno, didn't let him suck his cock or something. Idiot!

I'm not saying that Mett should've played. I'm saying that Miles had his mind made up that there was no way in hell that he would've started Mett over Jefferson or even Lee, no matter how ineffective they may have been. Miles decided to lose with JJ rather than even give Lee a chance in the BCSCG, so there was no way that Mett was coming in to save the day.
The point I'm trying to make is that Eubanks doesn't know the whole story, or is choosing to leave parts of it out.

Its inconceivable, with all the blowouts LSU played in last year, that Mettenberger didn't see more playing time. That's on Les.

99% of all coaches choose experience over hype/ talent at the qb position.

I don't think that's a real statistic.

I like Lee, but the truth is he threw the job away and it's not like there was a drop off and Miles kept JJ in.
JJ was decent in relief vs gumps #1 D, and the next 3 games were most total O of the season, 474, 458, and 494yds.
UGA was a crap performance vs the #5 D, but I'm sure CLM was just happy he didn't turn it over.
I think he should've still been playing Lee also, but something was supposedly up with extra classes to stay eligible.
I don't know anything else except the rest is history.

Didn't both Miles and Lee say that this wasn't the case?

the JJ thing really screwed this up. Early in the season Lee needed all the playing time he could get, and once JJ came back they started working him back in. Had JJ been kicked of the team, or if the incident had never happened, Mett probably would have played much more in blowouts.

Sounds like a UGA fan with an axe to grind with Mettenberger for some reason. He went out of his way to bash Mett while praising Murray even though their camp battle was much closer than some UGA fans admit but LSU fans also continue to buy the line that Mett had beaten out Murray and that wasn't the case either.
