Does anyone know Guy's poboys hours and what days they are opened? I searched all over the internet and can't find it and even called them and get no answer. I'm trying to take a trip tomorrow for lunch if it is open.

Per urbanspoon, they are open from 11 am to 4 pm Monday thru Saturday. Guys is awesome. IMO the best poboys in the city behind Parkway and Radosta's.

ETA: Removed the image with the hours since is was way too fricking large.

Correct. I usually don't like cheese on a seafood poboy but somehow the cheddar and swiss work well on this one.

Why would cash only deter you?

I never carry cash. I hate going to an ATM and refuse to sit in a teller line. 100% of my banking is electronic. I only have cash on the rare occasion of getting cash back after a debit card transaction. I even request my bookie to deposit my winnings into an account for me. I have a cash phobia. This also deters me from making minimal purchases on debit or credit cards. I'm a fickle bastard in a few ways and this is one of them.

But if the food is good, it's worth it.

I never carry cash either but I will if I need to. As a business, I understand why some places are cash only. Credit card processing fees can add up quickly for a business. When I had my seafood place/poboy shop in Baton Rouge, processing fees could run over $1,000 a month for me. But now, it's kind of a necessary evil to stay in business. I guess if you have the business, you can do as you like though.

Slight

Taking some out-of-towners around and about during the week this week in the Garden District/Magazine Street area and trying to decide between Guy's and Parasol to take them for a poboy. I've only been to Parasol, so hope someone will help me compare the two. Timing isn't right with other plans for a trip to my standbys Parkway, Bear's or Crabby Jack's.

I haven't had parasols in a few years but it's my understanding the food there has gone way down (all I ever got was the roast beef which was good). I love guy's so obviously I'm going to say that but if you want to stay in the area by parasol's you could give Tracey's a shot.

Did a quick Yelp look, and noticed that the Parasol's owners/staff got the boot and moved around the corner and opened Tracey's, so now, what I used to think of Parasol's is now Tracey's? Pretty confusing. Lot's of very average reviews, guessing from reading them many of the local's didn't like the change in venue.

ETA: just looked at the map and Guy's is a pretty long haul from where we were headed-not sure the streetcar goes that far down either. Looks like a Parasol/Tracey's call. Added Guy's to my list for when I'm not encumbered with a mob.

Guy's is the best po-boy shop on Magazine. No doubt about it. There are no commercial frills w Guys. You get exactly what you came for.

parasol's is better than tracey's right now in my opinion. i think there was a lot of backlash and a lot of people not actually trying the 'new' food at parasols after the change.
