It starts tomorrow (Thursday) with the Decathlon and the Heptathlon. All the other events run from Friday to Sunday, with Sunday being the day of most of the running event finals. IMO, this is the third best track meet in the nation behind the USATF Championships (Olympic Trials) and the NCAA Championships. Based on past history, there should be quite a few athletes in this meets who will also be competing in London later on this summer, and some of them will be returning to the U.S. with Olympic medals hanging around their necks. Of course LSU's biggest stars are Kimberlyn Duncan and Barrett Nugent, but Florida's Jeff Demps will also be looking to make a statement. Here's the link to the complete schedule:

If you're only going to go one day, I would recommend Sunday, the day that all the relay, sprint and hurdle finals will be contested. The new track (one year old) is really fast, and if the weather is decent, I expect a few records to be broken on Sunday.

I don't know why the SEC allows all the schools to host this meet on a rotating basis, since they don't do all the other sports that way. I've been to the other campuses track, and some of them look like high school facilities and have no business hosting a meet of the magnitude. The SEC didn't hesitate to yank the SEC swimming and diving championships from LSU a while back when they said the Natatorium wasn't up to snuff. LSU should be hosting this meet more than once every 12 (soon to be 14) years. As a matter of fact, in recent history, LSU has hosted the NCAA Championships more often than it's hosted the SEC Championships, how crazy is that?

Thanks trackfan , wish I was there to make it. So many people miss out on excellent watching by not attending Track and Field events. Since I moved to Montana in 2008, ive hardly missed a high school track event. It is really big here in Montana. Anyway thanks for the update and I hope that Tiger fans and Baton rouge folks and surrounding areas will make a good showing at Bernie Moore. Folks I can tell you that it will be well worth the admission price.

I think we could see the men's and women's 100m stadium records broken, the men's 200m, the women's 800m, men's and women's 4x100, men's 100h, and men's high jump. It is going to be an awesome meet.

I love the new track at the stadium, but I hope some time in the near future...LSU finally renovates Bernie Moore Stadium because it badly needs a face lift.

If LSU upgrades the facility up to par with the level of our track programs, we would not only host SEC championships, but Olympic Trials as well.

Don't think LA will be hosting the Trials after the fiasco of 1992.

Got to see a warm-up event called the Texas Relays a few weeks back. Demps was fast. That Bracy kid FSU committ may never step onto a football field.
I would recommend Sunday for this meet for sure. Too bad its on mday. My wife comes first.

I definitely think the women's 200 record is in jeopardy. But I think the men's 200 record is safe.

Track, I maybe e wearing the p & g glasses at the moment, but I like our girls' chances this year at bringing home more than the SEC title. We just have such consistent, big points in duncan and the 4x100.

Haters can hate, but Coach Shaver has done an amazing job as Henry's successor.

The women are favored to bring home LSU's 32nd NCAA track title. In order for them not to win, either they would have to self-destruct or Oregon would have to perform beyond expectations. I believe Rebecca Alexander is the second most important person on the women's team behind Duncan. She's on both relays and she runs the 400, and she must have a good meet in order for LSU to win it all. Sheldon Mickles did a good story on her yesterday.

You're right about the women's Bernie Moore 200m record. I didn't realize it was "only" 22.5x.

The men's record is 19.98, and Adams from Auburn already has a 20.10 into a headwind in Miami. I wouldn't bet money on the record being broken, but it would not surprise me either. I don't think many people realize yet how ridiculously fast the new track is.

That auburn 4x100 m relay team was very impressive at the Texas relays.
