Official NCAA RPI as of 5/1: LSU #7 (and my rant)

Moving on up in the official RPI rankings after a series win of the Georgia Bulldogs puts us right in the mix of things for national seedings. But, as it is every year, you don't know how the committee will seed you because they hide their favorite criteria from us!
According to Kendall Rodger's Projections at PerfectGame, the Tigers are getting a Regional Host and thats it.
Now, I consider Kendall to be one of the most, if not the most, knowledgeable minds on college baseball. He has my dream job. But to me, leaving LSU out of a Top 8 seed is ridiculous.
Not only are we still on pace towards every team's goal of 20-10 in SEC play, but we have (up to this point), won every single mid-week game we have played. Sitting at 35-10 overall, the Tigers would (according to Kendall's projections) be ahead of 4 teams in the RPI that got National Seeds. They are Stanford (8), Kentucky (10), Rice (11), and Oregon (15). Yeah, that's Oregon at 15.
I believe the committee should start being more transparent with the teams and the fans on what exactly they are going to look at that year to determine seedings. You are supposed to be rewarded in sports by the product you put on the field. But here, the committee is rewarding teams for being in colder climates, coming from a smaller school, winning a weaker conference, etc. etc.
It is blatant what they are doing. I just want them to come out and tell the SEC schools "Sorry that there are 4 elite teams in your conference. That's not our fault. We want to reward Mid-Western Riverside State A&M because it's their first time being better than average and they are from avove the Mason-Dixon Line."
whew...

I mean I don't blame them for not wanting 4 teams from the same conference to be national seeds, we just need to be one of the top 3 in the SEC

They put in two SEC team.
And they are rewarding an Oregon squad for leading the Pac-10 (may I remind you we are leading the SEC) that South Carolina would pummel into submission.

Few thoughts on your thoughts.
1-they don't have to nor will they be transparent. Are they 100% transparent in basketball??
2-nobody cares if you win midweek games, especially playing who LSU plays midweek.
3-SoS is 23 on Warren Nolan and 67 on Boyd's World
I can honestly say that I think LSU is right on the cusp as a top 8 seed, but I could be persuaded either way. I also think that Kendall looks at things like W-L vs. Top 25 RPI, Top 50 RPI, and Top 100 RPI.
Win out and you will be a national seed IMO.

If LSU takes care of its business the next few weeks then we will be a top 8 seed relax and enjoy the game of baseball

Also, Oregon may be at #15 in the NCAA RPI, but they have a SoS of 5 on Boyd's World and he has them in his top 8 in ISR.

What I don't get is that we're #3 in PerfectGame rankings, yet we still aren't a top 8 seed

Oregon's SOS on WarrenNolan is 26... Which is worse than ours at 23.

1) Everything you said is true.
2) The PC world we live in sucks.
3) It takes a complete dumbass to disagree with you.

Well, Kendall has Fullerton as a #2 seed in Oregon (interesting being paired with George Horton) and then having to travel to UNC in the Supers.
Be thankful you would only have to travel to Houston.

I'd rather sit on my arse in the gold seats.

I realize I am being a bit unreasonable. I take offense to LSU baseball much more so than any other sport for some reason.

It's all about spreading interest nationwide....NCAA wants to make sure all corners of the country and in between are covered.
NCAA does the same thing with March Madness and will do the same thing with the playofs in football.

Oregon is 15/16/16 in the three major RPIs. So you wanna go with Boyd's ISR. Ok, fine, well in Boyd's ISR, Rice is still 11 but is 4th on Kendall's projections. You could play that game all day. Fact is Oregon, is ranked > or =15 in all 3 RPIs and 10/12/12/6 in 4 of the major polls and 13 in his own poll yet he has them 6 in his national seeds. It's like the Pac 10 leader automatically gets a national seed. Ok fine, well LSU and USC both lead the SEC and have higher RPIs than Oregon and neither made the cut. But of course Florida did because they're one of the best teams in the country in the computer. They just can't beat anyone with a winning record in conference anymore.
Even though we need Kentucky to lose for SEC title purposes, a top 8 is more important, and maybe it will take Florida losing the rest of their series to show they haven't earned a top 8 seed. Florida got a huge boost from playing Florida St 3 times, winning all three, but they were all midweek games. Of course the computer can't calculate for that.
Their good wins are CSF in week 1 (we got ZERO credit for that last season), Miami in week 3 (Miami has has fallen on their face the last month w/ 8 straight ACC losses)), and USC 1st week of SEC season. They've done NOTHING in since week 1 of the SEC season.

Wow Cahampion! Nice rant and I totally agree with you. This year's Tiger baseball team deserves way more credit than they are getting nationally. i really hope our guys keep up the hot pace. It sure is exciting.
