Since you've been in Austin, where are the joints you've been hitting up? Every go to that Top Chef guys restaurant?

Which one? He has two joints.

A) Uchiko, the sister to Tyson Cole's Uchi.

and...

B) Eastside King BBQ

We went to Uchiko last Thursday and it was awesome.

But we were here for 7 years before we were in BR, so we've pretty much hit all of the older joints.

2nd Bar + Kitchen is new - that was good.

Had never been to III Forks until recently - I would not go back. It was okay, nothing special. Would rather hit Ruth's than go back, though.

Once I can find the time, the place I want to try the most is Franklin BBQ. It is supposed to be incredible.

Unfortunately we spent so much time with the family in north Austin that we didn't get to eat many places.

We did all food trailers!

Friday night we went to G'Raj Mahal. The wait was 1 hour, but I knew that going in. We just walked across the street and hung out at Clive's. We loved G'Raj Mahal. The atmosphere, service and food were all top notch. Why oh why can't New Orleans have places like this.

Saturday a.m. we had tacos at Torchy's. DAMN GOOD! Then after that we stopped in and had a maple glazed doughnut at Gourdough's. It was good, but not great. Not sure what all the hype is about.

Saturday afternoon the family had a crawfish boil at the park.

That night we were either going to hit up East Side Show Room or Fonda San Miguel, but we were exhausted and just ended up drinking out by the pool with the family.

Sunday we scarfed down a quick breakfast in the hotel so that we'd have more time to hike and swim the Austin Greenbelt. That was gorgeous.

After that, we headed home.

Definitely not enough time there...and not enough eating! It only took us 7.5 hours to get there, so I'll definitely be planning another trip.

And...Franklin BBQ was definitely on our list to try...but we never got to it.

The graduation being at 2 pm Saturday and then the crawfish boil at 4...all being right smack in the middle of the day really kept us from doing much.
