| New Orleans Hornets tax break package approved by House (Posted on 4/30/12 at 9:33 pm)
LINK "Baton Rouge -- The House reversed itself Monday and approved a tax rebate bill for the New Orleans Hornets after failing to approve it last week. House Bill 1072 by Rep. Cameron Henry, R-Jefferson, cleared the chamber 60-41 after being sidetracked 49-46 last Wednesday, four votes short of what is needed to pass most bills through the House. ........ . Jones followed that up with an amendment to require Benson, as owner of the Saints, to sign All-Pro quarterback Drew Brees to a five-year deal in order to qualify for the Hornets payments. "This is an easy one," Jones said. "I want our money to follow our quarterback." Henry said although he wants Benson to sign Brees, too, amending the Hornets tax rebate bill is not the way to accomplish that. The amendment was voted down, 30-61.

I think this is great news, but as a State employee it kinda baffles me that we have not received a pay raise going on 4 years now and Jindel is now trying to hack away at our retirement system. But the Hornets receive some 30 mil + tax break. Anyway, had to spew on that for a second, I am happy that they have done this to help Benson and the Hornets out.
