Are we getting back to where we are used to being in terms of having a highly rated class? One down year doesn't bother me but 2 would make me a little concerned. Not saying we have to have the #1 class but IMO 3 out of every 4 classes need to be top 10.

We'll be top 10 easy with top 5 likely if we land who we expect and some of the big OOS kids.People will panic if we don't finish real high but the fact is that Michigan is almost done and have some big guns left on the board so they'll likely stay top 5. Bama of course will be top 5. Ohio St will have short numbers but high stars so they'll push the top 5 if not higher. Uf is going to finish highly and UGA will take over 30 so they'll have plenty of room to get 20 4* type kids. USC will have a great class but only about 17 scholarships but 17 to 17 they'll be the best class in the country. Top 5 is hard these days unless LA is absolutely loaded because our class will usually be made up of at least 15 LA kids.

I dont think the difference between 4th and 8th is nearly as big as the difference between 8th and like 13th. As long as we're top 10 most years I'm good

The limit year to year is 25 but if one year a team signs only 22 then the next year they can sign 28 as long as the extra three enroll early. That way they technically count towards the year before.

Go back to the SEC Rant with this shite

How on earth do you know last years class was a "down year"?

Exactly. The last couple of classes were pretty stout. And the signing classes did not reflect all of the recruits. We signed guys after signing day when everyone stops counting up stars.

Our coaching staff has continued to prove they evaluate talent better than the espn or rivals.

UGA's reasons are as explained because they signed fewer but also because they have quite a few spots under 85. As long as those extra guys enroll early they can take them. Only 25 can sign in Feb or after but as many early entries as can fit under the 85 is allowed in December or January. So basically the new rule only eliminated taking grade risks and add ons. The 25 limit as a whole is a complete facade. It just looks good for perception.

Yes but I thought back-counting was over after this last signing period?

I originally thought the same but that doesn't appear to be the case. It's a different explanation of back counting though. The slant is that the numbers are tied to the 85 and not 25 but that has always been the case. Early entries aren't allowed if you don't have room under 85 at mid year as has always been the case. They just worded it different to make it seem like something changed. The only change is that every kid over 25 has to enter early instead of being able to sign at any point. So basically the rule change was to take the limit from 28 to 25. It's a little more detailed than that but that's the summary of it. Status quo to me aside from the early entry angle.

Rivals has left Louisiana from what I've heard plus some corruption going on in rating . They are grossly under rating Louisiana recruits in football .

They rated brockers 201 in the nation!!!

The NFL rated him 14th I think

Rivals at least in football is worthless.

Rivals has lost a lot of cred the last few years.

Our last class was very strong with the obvious weakness being DL. If we compensate for that this year, we won't miss a beat.

Rivals does a great job on evaluating the kids who go to camp. They don't snub the ones who don't, but it's hard to give them a fair eval.

THey also just started having some rivals camps around the state. Not just down south.

Our staff is great and measuring talent, and even better on finding it that talent that fits our scheme.

I'm not unhappy with the class, but the stats show that to win the NC you need to pull down top 10 classes most years
