Not sure where to put this thread since it's not LSU related but it shouldn't be on the MSB

He's telling MLB teams not to draft him since he's set on going to college. We'll see how it actually plays out though. This was a kid I liked throughout the process and wished we went harder after.

Just thought it was interesting.

I'd like to see him go to college. I really want him to be better than Brett Favre and almost as good as Josh Hoffpauir.

Unfortunately, compared to last year like what happened with Josh Bell, it is more likely he will go to college if he is insisting this with the draft slotting now. No team would ever do now what the Pirates did with Bell

I hope the kid does go to college if that is his wish and to credit the kid, he said all along last year that he was set on going to college. We and others just took the cautious route and didn't believe him. If I'm him I take the MLB money if it's there. The purpose of college is to further your career and find a good job and if MLB is willing to pay him millions then isn't that considered a professional success no matter if he pans out or not? Would be to me. Besides his football upside is limited by his height but Weeden shows that if baseball doesn't work out then he can go back to college and play qb. If good enough he can even get drafted. Win win to me.

This is not an uncommon thing. Around this time of year, most kids (or their parents) put out the word that they are leaning one way or the other. This should keep the drama/stress at a minimum. It tells the MLB team that they appreciate the interest, but they are committed to their school (the younger Nola, Moore, etc.). Teams understand and respect that, but still may draft them later on to see if maybe the kid changes his mind. These are kids with low sign-ability.

Then there are kids with higher sign-ability. They may inform teams that they are willing to listen, while not discounting the fact that they have a great school there for them as well. The kid may also choose to stay silent, and end up with a really tough decision.
