So how many and who would you guess we sign for basketball in 2013?

I know Bubba has a nice sticky thread up top, but usually it's a little easier to get some traction with a new thread.

I know it's really early, but do you think Johnny is able to lock down Martin and Bridgewater and maybe another guy or two? I know we don't have that many available scholarships, but I have a hard time believing we'll be turning down players of that caliber.

I know we should temper our expectations, but I'm starting to think we can have a huge class next year. Thoughts?

Give me some info on Taylor. Don't know anything about him. And is Damien Jones an LSU caliber player? Or is he worth it to get his buddy in Plano?

dunno enough about Jones

David Taylor as I'm sure you know is Derrick Taylor's kid. He's a PG in Germany. He's 6'2. He's considered more of a scoring PG than a distributor.

He played in the Jordan Brand International Game. Here's a little write up:

David Taylor (PG, 6’2”, Cybex Bayreuth, Germany)

5-12 FG, 1 rebound, 3 assist, 1 steal, 13 TP, 33 min

Solid and smart passer who keeps his head up and sees the floor. David does a great job as a PG of turning the corner off the pick and is able to get to the middle, where he can shoot the pull up or kick to the open player on the perimeter. Good floor general. Handles the ball well- equally effective with either hand. Good defensive player who moves well laterally and has quick hands- stays low. Did not shoot any shots outside of about 18 feet in 33 minutes- needs to continue to improve his shooting range.

****

he seems to really like LSU as far as I can tell.

Is he a player we should be recruiting or just a guy with a connection to us?

That still leaves us with no one past 6'8.

Not a certainty that O'Bryant leaves early though. I think O'Bryant has a lot of upside, but he still has a lot of room for improvement before he's rated high enough to justify leaving early.

And Martin looks like he's 6'8" on video. Kid looks big. Certainly plays more like a 3 though, which is what makes him a good prospect.

he's worth recruiting I'd say. He's considered one of the better up and coming young guys from Germany. He plays in a lot of tournaments for guys older than him and has played well according to these euro reports...

And I think O'Bryant will be here for a third year. A line up in 2013 of:

guards: Turner, Stringer, Morgan, Hammink, Taylor, Hickey

forwards: Courtney, Coleman, Martin, Bridgewater, and O'Bryant and hopefully whatever JUCO guy we get this season would be NICE

What is up with the Hammink twins? Are they as good as Shane?

I think i will be
Damion James 6'9
J. Martin 6"8
B. Bridgewater ( if he doesn't play football)
D. Taylor

John Isacc may be the old man out and may transfer and this could give us a 4th spot

I keep forgetting about Isaac but I wouldn't be shocked if he or Courtney decided to leave.

I'm assuming there could still be some turnover though.

Hickey, O'Bryant, Morgan alone would have us dancing IMO.

We at least need another body that can run the floor and rebound with some size. O'bryant won't be enough in the post by himself.

I meant to say Martin, my mistake. Martin is a 3 with the size of a college 4. He is more than capable. Hickey and O'Bryant at that point would be third year starters and Martin is a high level talent.

Bridgewater and Martin are plenty big enough to compete in the SEC. Sure we'd like a tad more height but I think LSU fans got spoiled from a year with Hamilton. There aren't that many 7 footers

I always see him at LSU games which is a great sign and he's always shooting the bull with CT2. But, he sounds like he has a lot of love for UL and Pitino.

He was our first true 7 footer since Hammink I believe. No, tuba does not count.

We went to the final four with Big Baby, Taz, and Tyrus playing post. Let's get some perspective here fella's.

The guys we have I am excited about. I'm just saying you are going to be asking some SFs to play in the post if we don't get another big body. I'd like to see us get someone that can at least guard SEC centers and rebound. Our size is the only thing that makes me nervous when I look at our line up, TJ kind of screwed us here.

I think Courtney will stay and will be solid contributor, he continues to get bigger and stronger and he shown he's able to hit the trey, I see him impacting lsu like d. lazarr(sp) or Storm.
