On this day I absolutely knew what I wanted to do for a living. This is why:

So you wanted to host a talk show? LOL. Anyway, look at the two chicks at 4:39 to see them throw their tongues out and licking their lips. Nasty little trick hoes.

venturing to guess two of the deepest tv memories people have of the '60's is the precise memory of this and Neil Armstrong walking on the moon. They're prolly wider than the announcement of the Kennedy assassination cuz they were scheduled primetime events vs. the midday news announcement of that.
To understand the impact remember almost everyone had only the 3 major networks to watch then. Everyone was watching the same thing. At school or work the next day, not a few but all knew what you were talking about. Dunno the Neilsen % numbers but a poorly rated show back then might have had a higher viewership % than highly successful shows today.

Anyone old enough to remember the Kennedy assassination weekend in Nov. '63? Two months later the Beatles on Ed Sullivan. Then Cassius Clay enters the world stage beating Sonny Liston a month or so later. Then the Stones play Sullivan sometime late in '64. What a ride those 12 months were.

I remember that weekend. There were no cartoons that Saturday because of the funeral coverage. I was 5yo and pissed about no Mighty Mouse that day.
