Just got internet installed in the new house. I also have Directv. If I don't have a smart tv or smart bluray player, is my only option to watch HboGo on my tv a PS3 or 360?

Tried searching didn't see anything.

Thanks in advance

You can watch it on your Xbox 360 or stream it to your PC. You could hook your PC to your tv, but it seems to me that using your Xbox 360 would be easier.

Assuming you don't have an HDMI connection on your TV? If not go with the 360 or you could always hook it up old school with a VGA and sound.

shite! Really?

I thought I had read that PS3 had been having it and Xbox finally was just getting it.

I don't have a ps3 or Xbox but was going to buy a ps3 and use hbo go as an excuse to get it. Looks like I'll be waiting a little while longer.

Well... shite

Yes, I have an HDMI connection. What options do I have? I'm assuming my BD player and tv aren't app capable because I got them both a couple Christmases ago. I'll check when I get home from work to make sure, but I was just going to stop at Walmart and get a PS3 since I wanted one anyway.

I have a smart TV, but I don't see an app for HBO Go. Is there still a way I can watch it on my tv?

If you have HDMI connections you should be able to stream audio and video signals directly from your laptop to the TV. That's assuming that your laptop has an HDMI port or can use an HDMI adapter like a Mac. If your laptop has old VGA setups then you can hook up those connections if your TV has them or get a conversion kit from VGA and sound to HDMI, but I've heard those things are a crapshoot. Easiest solution imo is to hook a HDMI port on a laptop up to HDMI capable TV. Also I'm far from technical, this is just what I've learned from my own experiences. Some other folks might have some more ideas. Enjoy the PS3

Thanks man, huge help! Didn't realize it was that easy to hook up a tv and laptop now. I'll try that when I get home.

Probably going to hold off on the PS3 for now since it doesn't have Hbo Go yet.

FWIW, I have used both a Revue and Roku for HBOGo and Netflix.
You can grab a Roku at Best Buy or Radio Shack for $80.00.

No problem. And there are a ton of HDMI cable choices out there. Some are crazy expensive, but we've always just used a $25 Belkin HDMI cable and we've never had any problems with picture or voice quality.

Came home for lunch and hooked up the laptop and tv using my bluray players hdmi cable and it worked like a charm!

Kinda bummed on not needing a PS3 (will get one eventually but have too much going on right now to justify it)

DirecTV doesn't support HBOGO on the Roku for some reason. Must be because of DTV's HBO on Demand, which is not even close to HBOGO.

Good to know. Thanks. I have Dish, so I assumed it was all the same.

I downloaded HBO GO on Friday, but I keep getting a message saying "Sorry, HBO GO isn't available right now."

Is anyone else experiencing this same problem? The website says they're experiencing technical difficulties with HBO GO. Does this happen often?

Getting a laptop with an hdmi out built in was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
