Not going to go into reasons why other than I love the city, but what are some places one should apply to. Good money is a plus, but also a good healthy environment is important. What restaurants/bars/hotels should I look into working at.

Experience? What type of atmosphere you want? Bartend or server?

Bar or restaurant. I have 5 years of waiting and management experience and very good behind the bar. I'm very knowledgeable in old school new orleans cocktails. I make all drinks from scratch. No pre mixes. I do everything from menus to money to locking up. I'd like casual or upscale casual. No fine dining.

I would not look at the Bourbon Orleans Hotel. They are screwed up from the top down. The GM actually mentioned putting dry ice in a Bourbon St gimmick drink he wanted the bar to come up with. He also hold grudges like a kid. They ask you to do a bunch of things, but give you no support. They set you up to fail. The owner is also very cheap. In the middle of a $15 million renovation, the company they have doing the dry-wall had a plain white van with dry-wall and phone # SPRAY PAINTED on the side. I could go on to write a novel but I will stop there unless you request more info.

might be tough but you could try The Carousel bar at the Monteleone or the Swizzle Stick bar at Loew's. Also, the bar at the Ritz Carleton is quite busy. The Roosevelt also has a bar but I am not sure if it is as busy as Monteleone, Swizzle Stick or Ritz.
