Is this an LSU Letterman Jacket...???

I picked this up in a thrift store...
It has the owners name printed on a tab in the pocket...
Right color of purple and gold...
Yes or no..??

It's close and may be the real thing. I haven't seen the sports listed on the 'L' like this one but I don't know the year or if someone could have done that themselves. Why would someone get rid of their letter jacket???

Likely but very old... More recent ones at least last 20 years have leather sleeves and typically a symbol instead of the sport spelled out

OK be gentle! This is my first post after years of lurking when I could not remember my old User Name and Password combo. I just signed up again to join in the fray. I like the Letterman Jacket. It looks well kept and could be a vintage jacket. I had an and old country store owner in Alabama give me an LSU Tiger Trucker Style Hat that looked vintage. A friend of mine, Ricky The Coonass (my nickname for him) remembered those hats when they were sold in convenience stores way back when - maybe 70ish.

Back in the 1970's it wasn't actually a "jacket," but rather a heavy sweater with a rolled collar. Not sure what they've used since the mid-70's.

When I went to school in the early 80s, the jackets looked similar to your example, but the sleeves were leather and the letter was not a bright yellow, but a muted brownish gold.
