As I was the 1st to report that RL was on JJ staff and was in NO doing some "poking ard local hs, Im now saying that another asst coach is a guy by the name of Chris Oney of Pearl Ricver CC. Did some research and his background is Nicholls State, ULM, Grambling State, Grambling Lab and Carroll High. Not sure why the hire but he is said to be a Great recruiter (coach 2 guys on Ole Miss's current squad), but what area will he be assigned?? PS, keep and eye out for the Karl Malone as volunteer...

Wasn't Oney a LA kid who played at aTm late 90s-ish?

Actually ended up finishing career at Ole Miss. From Tallulah.

He was by far the best recruiter we had. Gathers and JOB both made public comments about the relationship they had with him. So he obviously knows a little bit about recruiting.

Make it a fresh start. Don't keep a guy around because the players liked him. That is never a good idea. He isn't their friend. Hire a coach.

Look for Randy Livingston to be brought in to help Jones with recruiting and Mike Sanders to help with x & o's and player development. Sanders was La player of the year in 77 & 78 ,three year starter for UCLA, ten year NBA career, assistant coach for 3 Nba teams, extensive head coaching in D leagues, and is currently head of player development for Utah Jazz. He played with Jones at De Ridder and lives outside of Dallas.
