Just announced a double play by the Alabama defense on a play where everyone was safe.

No worries, he caught his breathe and then announced it would be an infield hit by Arby Fields.

Then he corrected and said it was a fielder's choice.

Fields did beat the throw to first, though.

Hannagriff had to tell Jim that Jones was safe at 2nd. Jim was busy doing his usual act of pretending like some once in a lifetime amazing event happened at first base to make him screw up the call.

I met Hawthorne at a Christmas Party two years ago. When I brought up him retiring he said and I Lord is my witness "They couldn't operate without me. I could never do that to LSU."

I kid you not. I immediately followed up with a question about his country album. I felt like I was silently mocking him.

its not too hard to miss an announcer saying a double play happened when the next batter hits a 3 run HR with zero outs in the inning

He's terrible. Please fire him ASAP. I can't stand it any longer.

I like Hawthorne
He makes me believe the worst has happened but then due to some form of human error I won the lottery.

"There's a double play ball tossed to second, and the throw to first is HIGH, and he's SAFE! Oh and Jones was safe at second!"

Not nearly as bad as you made it out to be.

Hawthorne hits the sauce before and during the games and is usually drunk as shite 30 minutes in. No telling what he sees.

not even remotely accurate

tried "tossed to second FOR ONE" and then he definitely said the guy at first was out for two. Why do you feel the need to lie for Jim Hawthorne? Did he sign your kid's arm at the les miles call in show once?
