I think you're reading WAY too deeply into it. It's just a nice, polite way of saying I don't want to talk to you anymore right now, or I have other shite to do. If I want to hang up with someone, I'll usually say I have something to do like.. "hey i gotta go take a shit, ima let you go" no questions asked #lulz#. of course if im talking to a chick ill make up something else. "hey im gonna fap"

If you called someone while they're doing something or if you've been asking them a bunch of stuff it is te right thing to say because you called them and took up their time so you should say ok I'll let you go
