LSU Basketball isn't going to get a big-name coach

That's just reality. We don't have strong enough of a draw to lure in a Shaka Smart or a Brad Stevens. The schools that successfully do that are Kentucky, Kansas, Connecticut, North Carolina, et cetera. Not a school where the program is in third place behind football and baseball.
Our best chance is to get someone who has had success at a lesser program and could potentially do well here. There's no guarantees with that, but you have to start from the bottom. Frankly, I think it would also be a benefit to have someone with connections to the New Orleans area, since the talent pool their appear completely impenetrable for LSU.
And I think whoever the new coach is should be granted some time. I think it's fair to say that we had unrealistic expectations of Trent Johnson. The program was in trouble when he came here and when the initial talent ran out, decline was inevitable. Even the best coaches needed some time to develop their programs in their early seasons.

everyone keeps saying this (and i get it from a fan interest stand point) but baseball's headcoach get less money then men's and women's basketball head coach.
which leads me to believe that as far as sports go (i know this isn't true) that LSU AD sees it:
1)Football
2)Men's Basketball
3)Women's Basketball
4)Baseball

I thought Calipari was a lock so he could recruit out of Dunham, U-High, etc.

How did Bama manage to bring in Anthony Grant? From a historical standpoint, LSU > Bama.
LSU can bring in a name IF they are willing to pay the $$$.
