Anything new on Drew Brees' contract?

With all the bounty gate bull shite going on (which is completely rediculous), I was just wondering if there is any new news on Drew's contract. Did he sign the franchise tag? Is he playing the "I'm gonna sit out next season card"? Haven't heard anything in a while so I though someone might know what's up.

He needs to remember all the "teamwork" and "community" rah rah bullshite he wrote in his book and sign the damn contract which would make him the highest paid player in NFL history instead of playing hardball over an extra $3 million per year.

I do not think anything will be in place by the first mini camp after the draft.

An honest answer: it's likely that we won't hear any real news on the contract until the player suspensions come down. Player suspensions affect the cap, as in the games (and more importantly checks) the players are suspended don't count towards the cap.
Loomis doesn't make moves unless he knows how he's going to deal with it down the line. So while there is still an unknown, Loomis is sort of stuck.
Once the tag was placed on Brees, I knew the rest of the team would have to taken care of first. There really wasn't a way around it.

I have faith in Loomis. Everytime we have holes to fill he and Sean fill them. Sometimes they pan dont pan out, but most of the time they do. Loomis knows whats going to play out in the Drew Brees contract situation. Wether hes waiting for more cap space to open up or they have other reasons to not announce a signing right now, a contract is most likely already on Loomis' desk that hes just waiting to fax over.
