Going camping over spring break

We are going to the Smokies along the NC-Tenn. border. New to camping so seeing if ya'll can give some tips on what to do, essentials to buy or anything else. Any info is appreciated!

That area is beautiful. Make sure you hang your bear bag. Go to the official hiking thread and ask anything and everything you can possibly think of and I will try to answer. Have fun.

What kind of camping? Backpacking, truck camping. Will you be setting up a base camp and venturing from there?
