Just had an informal meeting with an ex-st aug coach.

I don't really want to out my source, so some details are purposely left vague.

My guy was a holdover from the old coaching staff. He said crutch field is cleaning house now. He wasn't allowed to fire the whole staff, but he is being such a dick he is forcing the entire old staff out to get his guys in. He confirmed the fournette to lb move being direct from Saban. He also told me that he was standing in the room when Saban told Leonard that money won't be the reason he doesn't pick Bama.

All the coaches who are pro LSU are on the way out. Crutch won't even let them talk to the current st aug players anymore. He's getting his yes men ready for the new staff. Crutch seems to be pissing off a bunch of the locals.

Fwiw this is not a blast at Saban. He told me some tactics that LSU is using to combat this. Lets just say Its game on.

The main point is I have it confirmed that the fear of crutch turning st aug into a Bama factory is very legit and under construction. Fwiw it's too late for crutch to influence fournette in his opinion. Leonard's younger brother? Different story.

Football recruiting is getting to be as bad and stupid and dirty as basketball is.

This is a damn shame that this is allowed to happen in New Orleans at St. Aug high school. Why is the administration ok with this bullshite?

The administration put a lot of faith in the Saban and Wilson referrals. They are showing regret from hiring a non graduate coach.

The last guy was a non graduate too though.

It shouldn't be hard for a school board or board of supervisors to find out if a HC has ties to certain schools or coaches and has pushed kids to OOS schools before. If I made the decisions, those guys would never find a job in my district, unless the school is LSU.

The school board can fire him as quickly as they hired him if they feel any problems can arise. If he starts chasing a lot of coaches out, it will throw up a red flag to them, including his checkered past. Wilson could speak up as well and state he made a mistake and that would expedite the firing process.

It's not like high school contracts have large buyout policies, if they have them at all. Any sight of an issue and they can fire him without stating their reasoning behind it

I'm surprised that the new orleans Archdiocese is okay with Crutchfield being the coach at this school. I know of a situation that happened at another school back around 2002 when the archdiocese wouldn't let one of the schools hire a coach because he had been let go from another school because of scandal.

I'm pretty disappointed in the new Orleans Catholic Archdiocese about this. I'm about as pro Catholic anything as you can be.

One would think that Wilson would have some sort of pull at St. Aug.

So Saban is paying recruits, he should know better. I hate that SOB.

Seems like once the coach gets hired, it would be pretty tough to get rid on him if he's winning and keeping his nose clean, espescially if he's sending kids to big time programs on the regular. That stuff needs to be found out during the hiring process and act accordingly. It's too late now.

What does this mean? DeLarge (relative if I remember right) made it clear LF was leaning pretty heavily to Bama at this point, but that he didn't feel it was set in stone.

Seems like whatever the staff is doing so far has been working.

My guess is there aren't going to be any secrets going on without LSU/Wilson knowing about it.

this is another lc situation all over again, someone associated with fournette will be getting some form of benefits. saban is to football what calipari is to basketball in terms of bending/breaking rules for recruits. not saying they are the only ones.

You would be surprised. High school by us had their baseball coach fired after making the playoffs the year before and during a second playoff push in a row. Wasn't in trouble or anything just the athletic director didn't like the guy and they butted heads occasionally.

These athletic directors/boards again can let anyone go for whatever personal interests they may have, so it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibilities. Will they fire him now? More than likely not, but to say it can't happen is false
