Hanagriff and Ponamsky think there is zero chance TJ would hire Livingston, but that iff offered, RL would take it in a second.

Anyone know the story on this? Why would TJ not consider hiring RL?

i would love to see it happen but i think randy is on track to being a pro coach sooner than later and will probably stay that course.

trent needs to try and get joe pasternack though i doubt he'd leave arizona to join a staff on a warm seat.

More relevant statement in my opinion.

there was a good article about a year ago talking about this i think in the times-pic.

pretty sure brady tried to hire randy several years ago but he didn't have his degree at the time(he was still playing professionally)

also when keith richard left for ul-m there was a lot of talk on here about trying to hire randy but im not sure if the degree was still an issue ( hey at least we got lynn nance!)

he'd be a nice addition to the staff. trent needs to hire someone who can relate to kids in this area. shite, i wouldn't mind if they hired a guy like ron dupree.

I live in Boise and have spoken to RL several times. Great guy and big time Tiger Fan. He would be an outstanding recruiter and mentor. Currently head coach for Idaho Stampede where his number has been retired. Would be a great addition to the team and told me he would love to coach at LSU. Hard to understand why Trent wouldn't consider him, especially given Trent's Boise ties as well. Perhaps a personality conflict; who knows.

It would make too much sense. Maybe Trent can hire another ex Stanford player to come to BR.

Would he be a candidate for the job if Trent got fired? One would have to think so, right?

Trent doesn't want anybody that might be able to recruit. Trent's assistants are busy preparing for the big BBQ cookoff versus Studwara, Ensminger and Javi Sanchez.

Serious question: Livingston's degree is from Phoenix Online. Does LSU, or other major universities, accept this as a legitimate degree for hiring purposes?

don't think assistants need a degree. See: Bob Starkey

Brady publicly said that he wanted to hire Livingston, but the lack of a degree was a problem.

More likely Starkey got grandfathered in since he was hired in the 70s.

So, does anyone know if LSU accepts Phoenix degrees?

Not much. Certainly not more than with Chris Jackson and Shaq, which was very little. Excitement, yes. Actual results, no.

Starkey was a teenager in the 70s.

Well then no wonder he didn't have a college degree!

OK, why would Alleva not hire him? Do you have to have a degree to be a college coach? Seems like RL would be great for LSU he loves LSU, is liked in the LSU community and in NOLA, has contacts down there, seems like a guy that would great for LSU basketball.
