Im making a trip up to Nashville on Easter weekend.
First thing on the dockett, Jack Daniels Distillery tour. Any other suggestions? I heard its a cool town but thats mostly about the nightlife.
Any suggestions on restaurants?

Jack Daniels distillery is not in Nashville but about an hour away. Never done that tour but I have heard awesome things...have a sober driver for way back.
Walking through the Rhyman auditorium is one thing plus doing the Country Music Hall of Fame is cool. Honestly, every time my parents come up to visit they just like driving around and looking at houses and neighborhoods and the country side.
Check music shows to catch. The parthenon is cool but I have heard going inside isnt that great....but a definite must see. Driving to downtown Franklin for lunch one afternoon would be good.
It depends on what you like and how old you are and who you are coming up here with. Give me more info and I will help more if I can.

Im in my late 20's. Not a big Nashville country music fan. I prefer Texas Country and artists like George Strait and Willy Nelson.
Ill be coming in on Thursday evening and leavin Easter Sunday. I'll be with my buddy who lived there for a few months so I'm sure he has a good feel for the night life.
What is the Parthenon?
Would love to see a good museum, historic home, or something unique to Nashville or Tennessee. Anything fun like a Celebration station, mini carnival.. anything like that.

The Parthenon is a replica of the actual Parthenon in Greece....its on West End across from Vandy.
As for historic homes I would say Cheekwood, Belmont, and Belle Meade homes are a few good ones to look at.
Night life is pretty easy to figure out...especially since you buddy lived here for a while. Downtown is for tourists, midtown is more of the local scene.
If you into historic homes and stuff then you really might enjoy just cruising around Belle Meade, Brentwood, and Franklin to just look at some of the beautiful homes around Nashville.
Whether is is Texas country or Tennessee country you are into..its all at the Hall of Fame so dont let that make up you mind on that. As for Rhyman, thats the original Opry...it is the mecca of all country music.
Walking around Opryland Hotel would be good too. Place is amazing and will blow your mind.
Retaurants is a whole different story. What type of food are you looking to eat and what is a price range. There are some amazing places to eat. Some are pretty dead gum expensive, other are pretty moderate.

For a historical home, check out The Hermitage, home of Andrew Jackson. It is just outside of downtown.

better get there early if it is a weekend. Worth the wait if the wait isnt 2 hours+ which it easily can get to.
Sperry's is really good.
Best Italian IMO is Valentinos on West End.
Best steak is Kane Prime in the Gultch but it is really expensive.
Virago has good sushi but mostly you go there "to be seen" type thing. Really cool hang out. Expect to pay a decent bit for your drinks.
Boundry is a cool spot to grab a drink and something to eat.
If you have never seen a $5.75 Abita Amber draft and would like to laugh then go to Jeds Sports Bar off of West End.
Table 3 in Green Hills has great food and the owner is a friend of mine and a master Sommelier.
She is also the GM at F. Scotts which is a cool joint in Green Hills as well. They have a jazz band in the bar area playing on certain nights which is awesome. Great food, little pricey...best wine selection in the city IMO

didn't care for Kayne Prime. I think the best steaks are at The Red Pony
Posted on 3/26/12 at 3:01 pm to legba
I like Red Pony as well but I dont make it out to Franklin often. I have had nothing but great experiences at Kayne Prime.
Have you been to Prime 108 inside Union Station?? I love the hotel and think it is awesome and worth the trip inside. I actually went in with my parents and one of the employees started talking to us and knew everything about everything about the place...really amazing and lucky we had him walk us around.

I gotcha covered. Grew up outside town, went to high school in town. Still go back all the time
Things to do/go see:
-Hermitage - home of Andrew Jackson. I see it as our version of Oak Alley but home to someone actually famous
- Parthenon - been explained above
- Predators hockey game - you want something unique to Nashville that the rest of the South doesn't have? Preds games are the shite. fun and can be reasonably priced because there really isn't a bad seat in the house. I sat near top row for Saturday's game and everything on the ice was still very very visible. Plus, going out downtown before and after the game is fun as hell
- Yazoo Brewery and Tap Room- I might be a bit biased because I worked there during college, but this is a hell of a place to hangout/drink. Award winning beer with a very local touch. Get sampler tray and go from there. Weird hours (only open Thurs, Fri, Sat. evenings). Get there early, they usually close it up at 8 I think.
- Jack Daniels - you already got that one.
- Music Row - just go see it, very unique to the town. Will really help you understand how deeply rooted music is in Nashville. Shows you that the big named bullshite that Music City has become known for is actually the minority of music that's being made everyday. Lots of very small, "cuttin their teeth" type recording studios/record companies
Places to eat:
Breakfest:
-Loveless Cafe down Highway 90 - gotta do it, holy hell its good
-Pancake Pantry in Hillsboro Village on 21st Ave.
-Noshville's - either location - Division St downtown (i think) or in Green Hills off of Hillsboro Rd.
-Puckett's Grocery for brunch in Franklin
-Monell's on 6th Ave downtown is damn good too
Lunch:
-all that have been listed by people on here (theyre doing a good job)
+
-Whiskey Kitchen - just opened recently in the Gulch area
-San Antonio Taco Company (SATCO)- on 21st Ave by Vandy
- Arnold's Country Kitchen - 8th Ave S. -- very very good, cheap
- Bolton's Spicy Chicken (kinda has become a Nashville staple, along with Prince's Chicken shack but I like Bolton's better) - East Nashville
- MacDougal's Chicken Coop - Belcourt Ave. in Hillsboro Village off of 21st Ave
Dinner:
-Firefly Grille in Green Hills is very cool place, especially with a few people
-Brown's Diner - cheap, greasy burgers at a Nashville staple - been there foreverrrr - Blair Blvd. by the Harris Teeter on 21st Ave before you get to Hillsboro Village
***Cabana on Belcourt Ave. - one of my favorite places to go eat/drink - great atmosphere - right around Belmont, Lipscomb and Vandy so the ladies are everywhere just a cool place in general
Bars:
-too many for me to do this now BUT
Red Door, Winners, Losers, Robert's Western, Rippy's, Tin Roof (personal favorite)are all cool. Live music everywhere in town
Have fun. Its one hell of a city that is very diverse and distinct despite its stereotyped image. The food goes underrated to be honest. Good restaurants are everywhere. Very young town because of the huge numbers of college grads that move there from all over the SEC + Vandy, Belmont, and Lipscomb being right by downtown. Makes the scenery very easy on the eyes

Agree with most of the above post.
I dont eat at Pancake Pantry since they got a 68 on a health inspection.
I will have a few drinks at Whiskey Kitchen but not eat. Seen a few roaches in that place and have a couple friends that worked there and confirmed the roach problem.
Preds game would be awesome but I think it will be playoff time when he is in town so I am not sure you can get cheap tickets to that.

i live in Franklin, so i love to eat on main street. The Red Pony is by far my favorite. I have not been to the Prime 108...yet, I went when it was Arthur's

Don't expect to drink at Jack Daniels its a dry county. Great tour nonetheless. The closets you'll get is a big whiff

Not really doubting you, but I always question just how good breakfast can be? This is anywhere... I guess I'll never understand lines for breakfast food... Only so good you can make eggs, biscuits and bacon

So I cant even buy a bottle at the distillery?

You can buy it now. Don't go to Brown's Diner for dinner. It's a novelty and it isn't worth going to when you are in town.
Go to Downtown Franklin for lunch and eat at Puckett's.
George Dickel also has a distillery in Tullahoma which is about 20 minutes from Jack Daniels.
Also, Yazoo Brewery is definitely cool, but they changed locations and the new location severely lacks character and ambiance. Great beer though.
