I think he would be a good guy to add to the short QB group.

In all seriousness...he does have talent. I think eventually could be better than Chase.

Chase had much better WRs/TE's throughout his time in college

Jeremy Maclin/Chase Coffman >> Nick Toon (Wisconsin) and whoever was at NC State.

With locking up Brees longterm in the near future(throwing all our eggs and some that we dont even have and can afford into one jersey), lacking depth and talent on defensive side of the ball, and having minimal draft picks due to being too manly for the rest of the league to handle:

Drafting Russell Wilson would be a no brainer, Let's do it.

Unless something happens to Brees he wont even see the field. His rookie contract will be done before he even gets a chance to play. We need to find a fairly legit guy in 2 or 3 years. He can learn from Brees and take over when Brees calls it quits. Having said that a late round flier on this kid cant hurt can it. Could stop us from ending up with the next Nicks or Colston. I dont know. We drafted Canfield and even I could see that he wasnt going to turn into anything. Had one of the worst combines I had seen for a QB.

He'd be riding the bench for years, so it would've made no sense

True. Just saying people dismissed the guy like he was no good.

Hell, I never thought he'd be this good, this soon. But he would have been the perfect guy to follow Brees imo.

Being honest. While watching the game I was thinking..

"frick, why didnt he fall in the draft to the Saints"

I'd say everyone who argued against it was pretty much valid in their assessment. We wouldn't have even been able to take him where we drafted.
