I will not be signing the petition. And not just because I hate the Cowboys, that is purely coincidental.
I'm not signing because it's parity and the salary cap that makes the NFL great. Jones and Snyder have been punished for trying to use their financial advantage to ride roughshod over the long established principles. I'd hate to see the NFL become like the Premier League or La Liga (soccer) where only a few teams are capable of competing.
I think that if this punishment is lifted it will be bad for the NFL, because it will be giving a green light to the rich owners to force a CBA issue every few years to get that uncapped year to skullfrick parity, by handing out stupid frontloaded contracts to mediocre players.
I've read that the league told them at least six times that there would be retrospective punishments for teams who used the uncapped year to dump contracts - and they didn't listen. Well... frick 'em.
