“It was a good stretch of wins,” Morgan told Tiger Rag of LSU’s recent four-game winning streak. “We really needed them. Now, we can’t do anything but try to win out.”

quote:

The lefty from River Ridge, who averaged 28.9 points per game as a junior, sees himself fitting in nicely with LSU perimeter players Andre Stringer and Ralston Turner, both of whom will be juniors next year.

“I think they’re great shooters, and I think they’ll actually complement me more than I complement them because I’m really a pure passer,” continued Morgan. “I love to pass. So I can create for them and, if they’re overplayed, I can also create for myself.”

quote:

“I’ve got to prove to him (Trent Johnson) that I want to be like a second coach on the floor,” Morgan explained.

quote:

But the rangy guard - and reigning Greater New Orleans Amateur Athlete of the Month - has no problem upping the ante and setting the bar high.

“Yes,” Morgan answered earnestly when asked if he expects LSU to make the NCAA Tournament next season.

Anything less?

“It would be a letdown. And I’m not trying to have a letdown.”

Definitely should start his freshman year in place of Stringer. Stringer is a guy you really want as an energy off the bench instead of a 30+ minute starter at his size. Plus, Morgan gives us much needed size on the floor @ 6'3. I like this lineup for next year ASSUMING we sign a decent big man...

C: SR. (7'0) Hamilton
PF: SO. (6'9) O'Bryant III
G/F: JR. (6'6) Turner
SG: FR. (6'3) Morgan
PG: SO. (5'11) Hickey

Off the bench...
PF or G/F: SR. (6'9) Ludwig
PF or G/F: JR. (6'8) Courtney
PG or SG: JR. (5'9) Stringer
SG: SO. (6'3) Issac

We really really really need some big men, specifically someone able to spell Hamilton.

The refs called some cheap fouls on him and he had to sit out a good bit but when he was in the game he was money.he has a nice stroke from 3pt range and is a total team player

I'm hoping we sign Shavon Coleman and he starts at SF. That would allow Morgan and Stringer to come off the bench.

and as for Morgan: CURTIS SOULJAS BRAH. Hotep, would he be the first hoopster from Curtis that you can remember?

Definitely the first at LSU, and as far as I know, the first college basketball player ever from Curtis. If there is another, he went to a small school or a JUCO.

LSU fans will always remember the day trent and les miles rode into river ridge atop white palomino stallions ushering in the fruition of a million childhood dreams as dillon gordon and malik morgan became tigers.
