Not bad for a guy carrying 322 pounds. Meaningless drill for D-linemen anyways.

ETA: 19 reps will hurt him more for sure.

Yeah cause he ran a 5.38!! If he had ran a 4.97 nobody would give a damn how many times he lifted 225lbs.

Bench Press is the most overrated part of the combine.

How many times in football will he have to lay on his back at press people off of him.

His clean and jerk are both through the roof, and his squat is nothing to scoff at either.

(which meausure explosion, and are more important for athletes IMHO)

I think the 40 time is pretty insignificant for an interior defensive lineman. Scouts are interested in his cone drill time, imo.

It doesn't matter, he'll still be the first DT taken

He hasn't shown out that great athletically, today.

He is a beast now, weight up to 322. He will play inside so speed is not as important.

What's more important is that he could probably run that pushing a full basket of groceries with 1 hand and eating ribs with the other hand.

Big Poppa's got power.

Yeah, one of the combine announcers was saying thatt the first 10 yards are the only part that matters with linemen. If they are sprinting 40 yards, you're in trouble already.

His first 10 yards split wasn't top 10 either.

Exactly, 5-yard split should be all that matters with DT's. Now DE's are a different story and even then with some players who have great motors it still doesn't matter.

Brockers will be #1 DT taken because of his measurables. He just had to not frick up too much in the combine. 5.37 in the 40 isnt a cause for concern amongst scouts. 19 reps might be a little, but the dude is a 6'5" DT with 35" arm length at 322 pounds... That is something that you don't see at all.
He will not just be a great run stopper, but he will be a guy that knocks down all the slant passes coming his way. Dude is huge.

That guy also put up 44 reps on the bench, I believe.

With all the teams in the 3-4 now..no way Brockers slips past the 1st. He'd have to royally screw up.

Don't think anybody expected Brockers to be a pass rush beast...he fits a 3-4 scheme better and is very athletic. 19 bench reps isn't great but isn't going to hurt his stock much either. He has long arms and it's harder to bench for him. Plus, he is probably one of the youngest players in the draft...means he still has room to grow more strength. NFL wants potential and Brockers age will probably be another reason teams want him. His body is still growing. Isn't he still 20?
