What are your thoughts on the team?

I think our pitching will be good as long as we stay healthy. Not too sold on the hitting yet but it's early. I know pitching is always ahead of hitting.

it looks like they finally stopped trying to hit bombs all the time. They were hitting the ball hard and keeping it out the air

best starting 3 in a long long time. all 3 are top notch.

pitching wins championships. i think that this trio is good to win 2/3 every weekend. i expect 20-10 in SEC play which was Bertman's goal each year. we can accomplish everyone of our goals doing that.

About what I expected against bad competition. I think the hitting is going to struggle. Gausman pitched the worst and eades clearly the best. But gausman wasn't horrible or anything.

Eta : excited about our bullpen.

pitching is going to be excellent and strike a ton of batters out

hitting- who knows? rhymes, jones, and katz are going to have to carry the team

If you have to make a judgement on the first weekend, it would be that the pitching will need to be stellar. Hitting, against relatively poor competition was blah overall.

Bats may come around though.

I think our hitting will struggle too. I hope I'm wrong.

LSU had 10 batters HBP and we drew 16 walks for the weekend. OB% = .442 vs. opponents OB% of .206.

If we avg an OB% anywhere near .442 for the season, our offense will be fine. (In 2011 our season's OB% = .383.)

The only thing is LSU won't be given 1st base 26 times every weekend.

But when the other team has better, more consistent pitching there will be more balls to hit and the batters will be in better rhythm.

Much too early, I was impressed with Foster and Slaid this early on. But its way too early to tell.

Forgot him, looked good as well, I'm pretty happy that we might have some depth at the plate. Who knows, maybe Dozar learned to hit as well. And Ross not starting off 0 for 20 was nice.
