They have an excellent ham poboy with brown gravy. The owner got his start and inspiration from the long time owner of Ray's PeGe in Monroe.

It's much better than the current Ray's post ownership change.

Thank the lawd Bastrop opened one up. Strop city is a culinary black hole. The addition of a Magic Grill was much needed. It's crazy how shitty the food scene is there considering Monroe and Rayvegas are so awesome and both are less than 30 miles away. I blame it on the pine trees. Pine trees equate to shitty food and meth labs.

I had no idea Backstrap opened up a Magic Grill.

They did a year or so ago. It's as good as the old school PEGE's imo. The open face and roast beef poboys badass. Also, I got them to making me a mushroom and swiss double cheese burger. Not on the menu, but if by some reason you find yourself in Backstrap, swing by there and get one. It's off the chain.

Is someone from RayVegas seriously trying to rag on Strop city?

Don't get me wrong, a lot of the local eats have since closed or gone downhill since the closing of the paper mill, but there's still some decent eats there.

I can remember getting those for a quarter too. Mamaw lived in Lakeshore about 5 blocks from the PEGE. Ate a many of those things.

Guster, it's obvious you've never been to the Rayvegas Sonic. Best in the land. The Sonic alone puts Rayvegas in the up there with NOLAs and Parises of the world. And in a Big Johns, Feed Lot and Foxes Pizza and, well, you get the idea...

I understand that my man. Strop has way more options that Rayvegas. My rotation: Slaydens, Simmons, Granny's, Fish House, Messican joint, Johnny's and Magic Grill. Magic Grill has the best grocerys though. PT's (old Pippens Eat a bite) would be up there with Magic Grill, but it's so small you can't get a damn seat in there at lunch time.
