Someone told me they stink. I honestly haven't heard of one final score, though so I can't help you.

"Someone" is a dumbass then. Softball team is 3-3 after splitting 2 games today in Las Vegas. They lost to DePaul 3-1 and beat Cal St Northridge 11-0. The pitching is as good as there is in the country...the question is can they hit. There is a new hitting coach and the players seem to be buying in. Their schedule is VERY tough...they played Penn State and Michigan last weekend, both of whom are ranked high. They will be fine this year. They do not "stink".

The pitchers have struggled against the good competition so far.

I wouldn't necessarily say that. Mack did have one inning vs. Penn State where she gave up 5 runs, but besides that, they have been pretty dominant. Fico's ERA, even after losing today, is 0.74. Mack's ERA is 2.72, but that is bloated by that one bad inning. They play California tomorrow...that should be interesting.

Mack got hit pretty good against Michigan even if she didn't give up multiple runs. Same happened to Fico against Depaul today.

They will get better as the season progresses, Torina will bring respectability, just you watch and see. She needs to recruit her own team, and don't anybody think that Girouard left the program "stocked." She had quite a few bad apples, no pun intended and Torina will have to slowly clean house........I am glad she replaced Madame USL Peppa....we need somebody loyal and focused on LSU, not somebody who wants to get a good retirement package. and Go Torina!!!

Anyone know if she is putting on a camp this summer? I think I might send my niece if there is one.

Hard to figure the softball team. Softball is a good sport. The girls play as hard as the men. But its disappointing to see them get only 2 hits against a northern team (Depaul) who have a lot of Illinois players and are younger than we are. Also Depaul got 9 hits off of Fico who was one of the best pitchers in the nation out of high school. Don't know what it will take for them to be better. I thought that new multimillion dollar stadium was gonna attract good players. Maybe they are and will come out of it and compete.

I'm with you. Never understood why people have to specify that it's girl's softball when just the name "softball" should let you know it's not the boy sport of baseball.

Isn't having a good pitching staff in Softball pretty much mean having one dominate pitcher, since they can throw so many innings?
I know you need a bullpen and another starter to go a whole season, but like Texas with Osterman, when it counts you need that pitcher to be able to go 12 innings and shut a team down right?
