Yeh good pitching is still a huge factor but the game has kinda changed in the past few years. U have to be able to score runs. One or 2 won't do it. I Mean as good as they were, even Cat Osterman & Monica Abbott didn't win a championship. That's the reason UCLA, Arizona are so good. They'll have like 9 players that bat over .300

after just seeing some of the results, looks like it's gonna be an anemic year offesenvely. Shortridge carried the lineup a few years. Last year it was Young but she got the boot. Who's gonna step up this year and be the bat opposing pitchers will be scared to pitch to? I know there's still lots of games left to be played, but looks like offense is gonna hold this team back once again

"Someone" is a dumbass then. Softball team is 3-3 after splitting 2 games today in Las Vegas. They lost to DePaul 3-1 and beat Cal St Northridge 11-0. The pitching is as good as there is in the country...the question is can they hit. There is a new hitting coach and the players seem to be buying in. Their schedule is VERY tough...they played Penn State and Michigan last weekend, both of whom are ranked high. They will be fine this year. They do not "stink".

You were saying, dumbass?

they should have run rules for football as well... though SEC teams struggle to score 10 points so it might not happen often.

I've chosen to ignore that poster. It's obvious they've come on here to troll about the PAC 10 and have no concept of a concept

Leave us in charge of football, we'll leave them in charge of softball

The team is 4-4...got pounded by #3 Cal yesterday...Mack had a bad game. Then proceeded to beat the shite out of Utah State. You are a much better poster than to call out a team that you, yourself, said you know NOTHING about.

Brittany Mack and Rachele Fico are legitimately 2 of the best pitchers in the country, and as a tandem, may be among the 5 best "1-2 punches" in the country. They are playing a hellacious schedule right now, but this will prepare them for the SEC. Torina is still experimenting with her lineup, and Mack will come around...she has a history of starting slow in February and then dominating as the season goes along.

ETA: I was not calling you a dumbass....i was referring to the person who told you generically that the softball team sucked...

I mean...you can't play a ranked team EVERY time you take the field...Utah State was 4-4 going into the game, so they weren't that horrible.

I would much rather see a team play a tough schedule and pick up some losses, as opposed to what the baseball team does, which is play a bunch of crap teams and rack up tons of wins.

For what its worth, I followed team last few years and go to about 50% of home games, Mack and Fico ARE 100% two of top tandem in country. Mack can let her head mess her up and FICO gave up too many HR's last year, but there are maybe 2-3 teams with as good a 1-2 as this, not even debatable (now as far as any type of 3rd quality P, we have none). The rest of team is tbd, but they are a top 20 team that could easily grow into a top 10 or just hang around lower of top 20.

As for former coach, her leaving was 100% class, I am shocked at some of posts, she retired when she could have stayed longer and admitted that she was not able to keep up with recruiting. I would LOVE someone to give me 1-2 legit reasons for why they feel she did us wrong, because I know of none.
