What did yall expect?

If they can discard a highschool player on NSD, they certainly arent going to give a rats arse about sending 100 letters at the same time.

I'm sure it has a little to do with them wanting you and a lot to do with some student worker printing out way too many letters by accident. Surely he doesn't think Saban and Smart sat there, wrote and signed all 105 letters.

So the secret of Saban's recuiting success is blowing up some kid's mailbox. Brilliant. Miles should give the paper mill up in Bogalusa a call to see if they got some surplus.

Yeah. To me, this is like that chick that won't leave you the frick alone.

But then again, it could be that 10 that does nothing but want you and you can just play around with her as long as you want to see what you can get out of her.

My brother works at the Bogalusa Mill. Who do you want me to send 106 letters to.

I would hope people realize it was an oversight. These are pretty basic letters that every prospect gets. Somehow Kamara got 104 that were intended to go elsewhere. Someone in the support staff will get an ear full.

Additional telephone calls to an individual (or the individual's relatives or legal guardians) may not be made before September 1 of the beginning of the individual's senior year in high school. Thereafter, such telephone contact is limited to once per week outside a contact period, but may be made at the institution's discretion during a contact period.

Let's not make fun of Alabama's recruiting prowess until they drop out of the top 10, one year in the future, or so.

It was an oversight......but the kid loved it, anyway.....and Bama is still getting top 3 classes every year.

That rule doesn't matter if the prospect places the call.

Glad you put that to rest. Also not a violation to call the hs coach and be put on the phone with the kid or tell the coach to get the kid to call. LSU does it as does everyone. There are loopholes to every rule and that's the point. NCAA sets the basic, bland rule and leave it to the coaches to work around it how they see fit. The reason for so many secondary violations in college football.

This rule is also the foundation of how the Bama/Diarse talk about Bama being in contact more and longer is overplayed by media and LSU fans who take it as our coaches being lazy or screwing up. If Bama is in more contact it's because of Diarse initiating it and quite frankly our staff can't do anything about that. If he chooses to call Bama more than LSU then really nothing can be done outside of normal recruiting and convincing him to be in contact with LSU more. This goes for all kids. Our staff can't control who the kids choose to call.

according to the rules...

quote:

An athletics representative of a member institution may speak to a prospective student-athlete via the telephone only if the prospective student-athlete initiates the telephone conversation and the call is not for recruiting purposes. Under such circumstances, the representative must refer questions about the institution's athletics program to the athletics department staff.

I'm sure Smart is refusing to answer any questions about the football team and transferring the call to the assistant A.D.'s secretary.

in addition...I don't get from this quote that the dude is dialing up Smart 2-3 times a week to chit-chat

quote:

Alabama is just the most persistent.

"Coach [Kirby] Smart at Alabama - we talk two or three times a week," he said.
