Moving in a few weeks. Have had Eatel for the past 4 years or so and it's worked out fine. Just found out that they don't cover where I'm moving to. My options are Cox, U-Verse or satellite. Thoughts? Recommendations?

TIA.

U-Verse.

Love the service, and if you use att for cell service, you can bundle everything together.

tried Uverse and the picture was absolutely horrific for sports (very pixelated) in some areas that's "just what you're going to get" per the ATT guy. I canceled in 3 days.

At&t. Hands down. It is FAR better/cheaper than Cox.

There was something wrong with the signal to your house. I have no issues with this on any of the tv's in my house, or on my projector.

Each provider is only as good as the tech who installs it.

I'd look into Uverse. I've heard good things, but not so good things as well. So I'd research that if I were you. Other than that, lots of people bitch about Cox, but I've had them for years and don't really have a problem with them at all.

Thinking about switching to that. I pay like $70 a month for cable and get nothing special except maybe TCM. No golf channel, espnU or nothing.

The house has a dish already mounted, but I'm not sure if it's Direct or Dish. I'll have to look into that.

I had Cox when I lived in BR, and I didn't have any problems. May go to AT&T and get more info and quotes on bundling our cell phones with tv service for U-Verse.

There is one downfall with AT&T. If you watch a lot of TV, or all the shows that you watch come on the same night, you are limited to the number you can watch.

If you are eligible to get the highest internet (don't have to get it, just have it available in your area), you can record/watch up to 4 HD shows at a time. If you can only get the second highest, you can only record/watch 3 shows at a time. This includes watching what you recorded. This is only a problem on Tuesday nights, with Raising Hope, The River, and Tosh.0. It'll lock out any other tv in the house, saying all HD channels are in use. (you can watch as many sd channels as you want, but who watches sd channels?)

Yeah, I think I watch too much tv. Need to stop getting into new shows.

So basically all of my tv's will be grouped off of one system and I can't have more than 4 shows (live, taping, or watching off of dvr) going at once?

We're only going to have two tv's in the house (living room and bedroom), and we don't usually have more than 2 things recording at once at any time, so we should be good. That is good info to know, though. Thanks.

Yeah. It sucks if I have people over and they want to watch something in the other room. (this is for HD shows, I think you can watch unlimited SD shows; I'll try it when I get home and get back to you on that)

Outside of that, I've had directv and cox. The only good thing about cox is CST. With Directv I had a couple issues with weather (like maybe 3-4 times a year) but it was the first service to come back in my neighborhood after Katrina.

One of the main reasons I switched to U-Verse was the red zone channel. If you want this with Directv (or used to be the case) was you had to buy the whole NFL Sunday Ticket. And they wouldn't budge on that, even after half the season was over. (Still had to pay over half price)
