eta: I accidentally hit enter hold on I'm typing.
etaa:
Went there tonight with my parents. Sweetbreads and mushroom appetizer was fantastic, paneed rabbit as well. Sheepshead and speckled trout were both great. Sheepshead had a classic thick butter sauce while the speckled trout came with some giant shrimp and had a darker red sauce (it wasn't really a sauce, it was more like a paint if you know what I mean). eta: Forgot to add this, both fish were cooked perfectly, namely not overdone. Jesus Fn Christ why is this so hard to do in Houston? :endrant: The duck was good but to be honest it was slightly dry. Cafe au lait creme brulee was fantastic and had really strong flavors. Place is a great restaurant and a classic that does the same types of food as some of the newer uptown bistros but has been doing it for decades. I feel like its flying under the radar these days with the number of great/similar places that have opened up recently (last 6 years) that are a little more modern in their looks/ambience/panache/whatever word you want to ascribe here. Doesn't matter, food is still incredible. Happy Mardi Gras.

I've been wanting to go there. I'm debating on my next dinner trip if I should eat at August, Coquette, or Brigstens. I'm leaning toward Coquette.

It has some sort of cult following which I do not quite understand. I always enjoy it but there are many better options within walking distance ...

Been once and had a great meal. I'd go back.

A lot of people say this but I totally disagree ...Within walking distance I would rank Matt and Naddies, Dante's, Bourcherie and One all ahead of it.
Cote Sud is probably better IMHO also ...
To each their own ... I guess that is why they make chocolate and vanilla Ice cream
