Going to be in Charlotte for 2 weeks and unfourtnately staying near the airport. Any must try places downtown or in the city limits? Also going to NYC for one weekend, what are your favorite places there? (search function sucks)

What kind of restaurants are you looking for?

You're in luck, RedFoxx. Just sent this email to a buddy of mine who is in NYC as we speak.

- rooftop of the La Quinta Inn in Koreatown (33rd between 5th and Broadway I think?) there's a place called Me Bar that is really cool. Locals only kind of speakeasy place but there's a great patio for if the weather is nice and you get a killer view of the Empire State Building. I used to work right near there and they have a couple of Korean BBQ joints nearby that are good. Madangsui and Kang Suh (open 24 hours).
- quick cheap meals = Lucky Burger (370 W. 52nd), Halal Cart (53rd at 6th ave.), La Esquina Taqueria (Kenmare St. at Lafayette St.), Calexico Cart (24th at Broadway), Tiny's Giant Sandwich Shop (best sandwiches in NYC), Shake Shack in the Flatiron district (touristy but they do make a goddamn good burger, Island Burgers and Shakes on 9th Ave.
- can't really give you any recommendations on a good steak that's not too expensive.
- NYC is not really known for its Vietnamese food (that's more of a West coast thing), but saw some decent reviews for Pho at Nha Trang One and Mott Pho Bang in Chinatown/Little Italy.
- Italian food check out John's of 12th Street (320 E. 12th St.). probably the best in Manhattan that isn't too expensive.
- Pizza.... gotta go to the original Grimaldi's in Brooklyn. other than that.. John's on Bleeker and Bleeker St. Pizza are two of the best cheap places in the city for a slice. Recently a lot of hip pizza joints opened that charge more and make fancier "creative" stuff.. maybe google search some of those. I never went to any of them.
- something else pretty cool is the Burger Joint at the Le Park Meridian hotel on W. 56th St. When you walk in the lobby you turn to the left. There's a tiny sign and the hotel keeps it out of advertising so as to not make it too crowded for locals and hotel guests. Cool spot.

anything. I will be traveling alone, so anywhere where that isn't out of the ordinary.
