Say we can't get much by trading Kaman, re-signing him might not be the worse thing ever. I know he's getting up thier in age and has been very injury plagued his entire career, but when healthy the dude can play. Pending what happens with the draft if we resign him we could potentially be very deep at PF/C next year.

I'd love to have him for a couple more years, but if he stays healthy and continues to play this well all year, I think he will be asking for a pretty sizable contract that I wouldn't like to see us pay.

He has more offence than Okafor. And rebounding is equal.

Okafor's contract and Kaman's market value make keeping kaman not an option.

Hopefully the new ownership will amnesty Okafor's contract.

Gary Chouest didn't buy the team in 2010 because he didn't want to eat any of Shinn's debt. Tom Benson would be buying the team to make money for his other investments. I can't see either of them willing to eat $28 million right after buying the team for $350 million.

Maybe its wishful thinking but I would think a few teams would put in claims for Okafor at a reduced price 7-8 mil/yr meaning we wouldn't be on the hook for the whole contract.

Kaman is a nice player and the basic numbers look good, but he is not very efficient at all. Considered to be an "offensive" center, he has a negative Offensive Win Share for his career. Okafor, for all his flaws, is at 16.4 OWS. At WS/48 Kaman is .058, Okafor .115. League average is .100.

Even if they can't deal him and if he takes considerably less money than I imagine he will be offered, why have Kaman and Okafor eating about $20 million of cap space when they can't play together? And are both closing in on 30? Why have an extra body taking minutes from at least one lottery big man? Not to mention minutes from Ayon, who appears to be very promising.
