Illegal to throw a few back while kayak fishing or cruising down a river with some broads?

We used to do it all the time in college but have heard stories that they are getting more strict in classifications.

Well, if you're in a kayak you're technically driving. I've pounded many 10oz silver bullets in mine. RIP

since its not powered by a motor, the only thing they can get you for is Public Drunkenness.

Don't get a BUI. It's got to be the same as tiki tubing, right? The kayak isn't motorized.

I think the law on DUI says "operating a motorized vehicle or other means of conveyance". Arguably a kayak could be an other means of conveyance, albeit a shitty and slow one.

If you get a BUI in a kayak, you'd never hear the end of it from me.

We had this discussion at work the other day. I think you can get a DUI on a bicycle. So Wouldn't be surprised in a kayak.

Hell I've been so drunk on my kayak while attempting to fish that I vaguely remember getting back to land.

Not in La. Vehicle must be motorized. No horses, kayaks, bikes, etc. Drink away.

While on the subject, anyone fish blind river at St. James boat club? I plan on yaking the canal back under airline and not the main traffic area.

It comes up from time to time on the kayak boards, and if I recall correctly it's a gray area that although unlikely to happen could land you a DUI. Regardless of the rule in the boat 95% of the time I fish from my yak, I drive my car after.

if you can get a DUI on a bicycle....im sure you can get one in a kayak. But, it probably depends on how big of a dick the water patrol wants to be like alot of things.

On my lake, alchohol is illegal on the water period, (dry county) technically its even illegal on your own boat dock, but you have to be pretty bad for them to come over to your dock.

You can get one for anything (just because the cop wants to be an arse) but that doesnt mean it will stand.
Got one while sitting in a parking lot one time. Judge laughed at it. (Small town BS)

Have a feeling that is why you hear about the bike storys when they get arrested. Not sure they stand in La like Mung said. Got a feeling he knows alot more about it than me though.
