Les Miles, despite his mishaps during games, has always been a solid recruiter, but this year he severely missed the mark. It’s hard to call the 2012 a disappointment because the school did get a few players that could pan out to be fantastic, but for a program like LSU to not get a single 5-star recruit is a bit disappointing.
Bleacher report though.

Miles has lost his creditablity after the NCG as a top fight coach. He can only get back if he wins the NCG this year. He went from being a great coach to being a good coach. Saban as much as I hate him is the best coach in college football. Miles maybe in the top 15 to 20. Our signing classes will reflect that in the future without a NC.

Agree completely.

Leaux - that is not a fair assessment of Les by placing him in the top 15 to top 20 coaches.
Les has proven to be a top 10 coach if not a top 5 in his tenure at LSU.
He has three SEC title game appearances with 2 SEC titles. The team has appeared in 2 National Title games and has 1 BCS championship and will probably play for the title again next season.
If Les does that and wins another SEC title and possibly wins the National title by playing a team not in the SEC then what will the doubters say.

What is Miles record versus Saban again?

There is also a different article on the same site that gives a slightly different perspective. The truth about this class, as with all recruiting classes, will not be known for several years. It is important to be patient and wait and see. I remember how excited everyone was that we signed Russell Sheppard - and while he has been servicable, he has certainly not been a program changer. It is mostly the diamonds in the rough that have led to the success we have seen this year.

Ya'll need to stop using this.
2007 - Miles beat Saban in Tuscaloosa but... that was Saban's 1st year. He actually played LSU much tougher than the game should have been.
2008 - Saban beat Miles in B.R. in O.T. I think that was the year JL threw an int. in O.T.
2009 - Saban beat Miles in Tuscaloosa.
2010 - Miles beat Saban in B.R. D. Peterson end-around was play of the game.
2011 - Miles beat Saban in Tuscaloosa.. Bama missed 3 fg's.
NCG - Saban beat Miles
So, they are even but Saban won the one that counted the most.

WTF man are you serious? He made some bad decisions in the BCS game and was outcoached for sure. But last time I checked Saban made some bonehead decisions when we beat them in their house w a week to prepare.
To drop him to 15-20 after destroying every team on the schedule and beating everyone we played including one of the best Bama teams in their history is idiocy.
You are the definition of catastrophe syndrome. Go change your tampon.

Please rank your other 14 coaches in college football that are coaching that are better. Please back up by facts such as wins/losses.

Besides Saban, who is ahead of Miles? Give us your 13-18 coaches.

You need to stop using this bullshite Gump excuse. LSU WON THE frickIN' GAME, and not surprisingly you give Miles no credit for this.

There is very little doubt that the offensive debacle in the BCS title game has cost LSU severely. Aside from the national championship and a perfect season, it has done some damage to the Tigers' recruiting class.
Funny how the top La players we lost were on the defensive side of the ball. Kiel was brought in after the game and had committed and decommitted already from Stanford I believe. Just wishy washy

Give me the players who want to be here.

And Bama got no breaks? Sheppard and Randle both could've scored touchdowns just to name two plays. Are you just gonna ignore their breaks?
LSU flat out won that game. After JL's pics and after seeing the defensive struggle Miles decided to play very conservative and just tried to stay close.
It was the exact right thing to do as Lord Saban foolishly tried super long field goals (long because our defense shut them down at the 30s) and trick plays.
We executed when it mattered and they didn't. That game was a fantastic win over a great team at their house. To have an LSU fan think otherwise is really annoying to me.
