No we don't. I was told how slow Oregon was by LSU fans. They pointed towards our 40 times.

I digress...does a 4.2 forty time get him above 2nd/3rd round?

He isn't running a 4.2 I would be very very surprised if he ran 4.3.

Sure. Let's say he makes it. Does he overcome the 3rd round back because he's a 3rd down back? Does that speed propel him to the 1st round?

For a player who ran the 40-yard dash in an electronically timed 4.59 seconds last spring
There is no way in hell he's running a 4.2.

ETA: and i have no idea. Al davis is gone, so there's that working against him

i dont thin he can get into the 1st regardless of what he runs

his speed on the field doesnt translate to 4.2, i know that.

i know he has track speed though. I think he can break 4.4 or some close.

Kendall Hunter went in the 4th last year. I think that is a comparable player. but i think James has the name power to go earlier. mid 2nd imo

onemoretime - I have explained this to the board over and over. Those times are based a finger clip. They give up more time on the start than the combine. Read the article. Every Duck that runs those winter conditioning times improves drastically.

Is this because Mingo ran him down. WE all know what happened there. Your DT rotation stuffed the gaps and LMJ was hesitating. That is why Mingo ran him down. Not because Mingo runs faster in a straight line.

ETA: if LMJ runs a sub 4.3 forty, what does that say about Mingo???

There is ZERO chance he goes in the first round. ZERO. Maybe 3 RB are even taken in the first this year.

The Dude is a machine, if you read the article. He has got his weight at 195 and 4% body fat. I don't watch the NFL but I will be curious about how translates.

He looked bad against LSU but that is more indictment on our oline than LMJ.

It doesn't matter how good he looks, he's not an every down back and therefore it would be foolish to give up more than a 3rd for him. IMO.

To you OP, if he runs in the 4.2's, yes I think he jumps to the late first or early second.

I would have to think that kind of speed would improve his stock. However, the nfl is getting so specialized, especially for RBs, that there seems to be a glass ceiling.

Says that 40 yard combine times are pointless in arguing who has the faster team, something you duck fans can't fathom.

What it means is that on that particular play, Mingo ran faster than LMJ so he caught him. LSU's defense plays fast as hell, i don't know how fast they actually time individually.

Same shite when we played OSU when their fans were making spreadsheets of 40 times comparing our players to theirs showing they were just as fast. Honestly who cares.

When LSU played Ark in 07', every play either Felix Jones, DMac or Peyton Hillis carried the ball. They went 4.3, 4.3, and 4.5 respectively. Ali Highsmith had 19 tackles in that game. Everyone thought he was a really fast linebacker. He went on to run a high 4.9 at the combine.

You wanna know why Mingo ran him down? Not because Mingo has better straigh line speed. That is foolish thinking. It's because of Brokers and Logan. They had all the gaps stuffed and LMJ hesitated. He even said it himself. He had no where to run and was thinking to much out there.
