Ronald Martin is no longer a member of the LSU basketball team after deciding to turn his focus entirely to football.
A former two-sport standout at White Castle, Martin joined the basketball team days after the football team lost to Alabama in the BCS National Championship Game.
Martin dressed for four LSU games, but saw his only action in the final minute of a loss at Florida on Jan. 21.
“We’d love to have him out there,” Johnson said. “It was just too much for him.”

smart move. he's got a chance to see the field a lot more next season so spring is important.

Yup. He's going to be counted on next year to be a contributor at safety, and if Loston gets nicked up, he could be shoved into a starting spot.

This shite happens everytime. I remember when Robert Royal tried to do it.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Martin actually starts next to Reid. Seems like a better player than Loston.
I bet the coaches told him he is the replacement for BT.

What everyone need to understand is that Ronald Martin never set on anybody bench in football or basketball his entire life. Football has one of the best secondary in the nation & that could not be a problem. Ronald was playing 17&under AAU ball as a true freshmen. Numerous guys who is playing major mins around the country could not guard Martin. He was not sitting on no bench behind 5'6's guard and he is 6'3 & can really play ball and make others better. Trent had a gift, but Martin was not going to be a practice dummy and lose weight & time when he is trying to see major mins in football next year. Facts!!!!
lol wut

It's obvious this guy is related to Martin and probably has an idea of what he's talking about. If I was Martin, I wouldn't want to be a part of the hoops squad right now especially if you can't participate.

If his mind set is just to quit bc things are tough I wouldn't want him on the team anyway. I don't think that was the case though

Hopefully Ware quits Baseball and focuses on Football too. He was downright turrible last year in Baseball.

Bayou Pigeon = White Castle
I believe this guy...quitting this early into his time with the BB program surely does indicate it. I don't know if Martin is really a baller though, and if he is, Trent is past an idiot and should be fired.

The kid isnt going to get PT in the middle of the SEC with 2 weeks of practice under his belt. He probably went out there and realized he wasn't quite on that level and decided he'd be better served to concentrate on football. And that's ok.

Ironic it came after watching those NBA all-stars in the pmac Saturday.

Martin provides an instant upgrade on the BB team. Probably isn't worth the hastle of learning how TJ wants him to play, earn his stripes, and losing ground on the fb depth chart.
