I went to Gautreau's last week and Brigtsen's a few months ago. Both feel like you are eating in someone's home. Brigtsen's has several rooms of tables so I find it more intimate than Gautreau's which is one not very big room with tables. I think the atmosphere at Gautreau's is more formal (not stuffy, just more formal). Gautreau's has regulars. Brigtsen's tends to treat everyone like a regular. I loved the food at both. Gautreau's is going to be a little on the lighter side (order the fish...any fish...the chef knows her fish). Brigtsen's is a little heavier, but not disgustingly heavy (you won't feel like you ingested a stick of butter).

If I had a choice, I would choose Gautreau's. It might get a little loud due to the layout but I feel the food lends itself more to a Valentine's Day meal than Brigtsen's. If you want a more intimate atmsophere, you probably want to go with Brigtsen's. I don't think you can go wrong with either, though.

Thanks,
I live in werehouse D, wanted to venture away for a meal, waited a little late. Gautreaus looks like the spot.

You can't go wrong with either one. If Gautreaus this time do Brigtsens next.

Also I'm a big fan of Bistro Daisy right now. Put it on your list since you live in the area.

Prefer Brigtsens. But can't go wrong with either. However, Valentine's Day is one of the worst nights to go out for dinner. The worst is NYE.

Very tough decision. Both are great New Orleans neighborhood restaurants. If I had to go with just one it would be Brigstens but like others have said you can't go wrong.
