Saturday morning it was 22 degrees where i hunt and a damn gobbler rung the woods over 100 times. I have heard them gobble 3-5 times on cold mornings, but never like this guy was. Was sitting there wishing i was packing the turkey gun. Little story i thought i would share to change things up a bit.

I heard one gobble once in January several years back. Other than that, we don't normally start hearing them here until March. 3/15 can never get here quick enough.

Shooting a paper turkey at that range does not qualify as a hunt.

When I was younger I had one fly up and land about 5 feet above my head in the tree where I was deer hunting. He then proceded to make all kinds of racket for ten minutes then flew away. I have never been that close to a live wild turkey again

Time to start the countdown.

But with this f'in merger at work set to happen in March, and a wedding when I would normally go to Missouri in April, it looks like my time this year is going to be extremely limited.

I've seen more turkeys than deer this year. I am on a new lease and the other 2 members don't hunt them.

I will need some help from the ODB killing them in a few months and about to start figuring out how to call, set up, etc.
