A Championship Should Never Happen 37 Days After the Previous Game

The BCS system is a joke. 37 days between when LSU played the SEC Championship Game and when they played in the BCS Championship Game. 44 days for Alabama. How do you crown a champion with that kind of layoff?
I know that LSU has won these games before. I know that Alabama had the same problem. Bama won and they deserved it and I give them credit. But, I am talking about the system. LSU didn't look anything like the team we saw all season. The 37 day layoff had something to do with it. Bama adjusted better and I give them credit. But, this is not how it should be.
I hope that we can fix this as well when we adjust the system. Have the season go into mid December and start later. Just shorten that layoff. It is a disaster.

What are you talking about? If you are going to fix the BCS, then address this too. Name one other sport where the championship game is 5-6 weeks after the last game that each team played? It is never done. The bowl games are almost in a different season.

Ohio State complained back in 2007. I didn't care then because we won and I likely only care now because we lost, but it is quite ridiculous. I never thought too much about it until I saw LSU play last night like they have not played all season. I think the long layoff had to have something to do with the lack of fire and passion.

The whole bowl system is an outdated notion. The idea of auto bcs qualifying conferences is and outdated notion. If the second week of January is the end of the average college football then that is more than enough time to play a pro style season and playoff. Hell if the FCS can do it why not D1? I have NEVER understood that.
I know that alot of money is tied into the bowl and its "football tradition" but the game has changed, conferences changed. Seeded +1 is a good start. The bowl system needs a huge reduction. I don't give a flying flip about the VirginiaSlimDannonYogurtKYJelly.com bowl

I totally agree that this should be considered a factor. I know many will say we are just trying to find an excuse why we lost the game, but you're right almost a month and a half since the SECCG. Ridiculous! Plus while our guys were out there playing in that game, the Gumpers sat in the clubhouse all week studying film, resting, practicing, etc.
I do believe that if the game last night had been played within a couple of weeks from the SECCG, our team would have performed up to the standard they had all season. I'm sick of everybody pointing fingers at CLM, JJ, etc....let's just move on, but great point regarding the current BCS system. Please let's go to a +1.

It sounds like change is on the way, but what hasn't been decided is the format of the new system... I'm sure there will be dozens of formats before one is finally decided on. Oh and the new format would not go into place until 2014
