This is similar to the hypothetical "would you do it with a dude for a million bucks?"

im not sure what he makes at LSU, but the difference would have to be substantial for him to go be on Dooley's staff.

I sure as hell wouldn't want to leave a team that will be a national title contender for years to come stocked with talent for that mess of a team.

This is significant. It's a quiet milestone that shows how high the LSU program has risen in stature. He turned down a 30% pay raise to stay at a job that's better, more fulfilling and more enjoyable than UT ever would be.

The odds of him leaving a well-stocked, championship caliber program in a talent-rich state for a tougher job with a coach on the hot seat at a place that allowed Lane Kiffin to fire him after a 60-second meeting were mighty, mighty long
nailed it

He also gets a BCS bonus, which he probably would never get at Tenn.

This makes two years in a row that our HC or DC has reportedly turned down more money from his respective alma mater that has more tradition than LSU. Definitely says a lot about where our program is right now.

If he goes back to UT, it will be after Dooley is fired and he would occupy the big office.

Can't really blame him for trying to lure the best DC in CFB (who also happens to care more about UT than probably anyone else in America) with the most money of any DC in CFB.
